This Hilton building was originally the Masonic Temple, but was sold in 1992 and redeveloped as Hotel Monaco until Hurricane Katrina. Hotel Monaco did not reopen after Katrina in the hotel reopened in 2007 as a Hilton.
This Hilton is also located right next to my employer's NOLA HQ building and features Chef John Besh's Lüke restaurant on premises. It's a bit challenging to drive here, but at "only" $39 per night/valet parking it's worth it to ditch the car and walk the rest of the time that you are here. From here, it's all very pedestrian accessible to the French Quarter and beyond (via the St. Charles and Canal streetcar lines).
My only complaint with the room was the streetcar noise, but like the BART line near my Albany California home, I'm sure that this would soon become a background comfort. The room itself was nicely appointed, with a comfortable bed, a nice chair to relax, and a hot strong shower. It has a classy European feel and if Gayle were here, I'm sure she would say as high praise: "This place will do".Recommended for:Business Travelers

Great location, a two second walk to the French Quarters. All you have to do is cross Canal St. The famous trolleys run up and down St Charles st. We got a good deal through expedia on the room. Rooms were small and old (due to it being an old building). We changed room twice due to shower not working, toilet not working, and cleanliness.

As we entered the dark-panelled and golden-lit lobby of the Hilton Hotel, a bubbly person greeted us with information we could have probably gleaned on our own but that nevertheless came to define our visit: “Because this used to be a Masonic Temple,” she explained, “it has the charm of a boutique hotel with the amenities of a Hilton.” Wow. She was right! It was richly appointed and felt historical, but it had that uniform crispness you’d expect from a corporate chain of hotels. In any case, the Hilton had a lot going for it: it’s right next to celeb-chef John Besh’s popular Luke Restaurant; it has an indoor pool with Jacuzzi and fitness center, nice rooms, and a super-friendly staff. Depending on how close you want to be to the French Quarter, the Hilton’s location could either be a deterrent or a bonus: it’s about a 10 – 15 minute walk to Canal Street and the French Quarter. But that also means it’s closer to The Garden District and Arts District!Recommended for:History Buffs

This Hilton was a pleasant surprise! I stayed in a room with two double beds with my best friend and my boyfriend. The room was spacious, comfortable, and far nicer than any other Hilton in which I've stayed. We managed to flood the large bathroom, and the hotel staff was very accomodating with lots of fresh towels. The area was nice and within walking distance to the French Quarter.
Check out the prices directly on the website; we managed to get a great deal by paying in full prior to our visit.
This historic hotel was built in 1926 originally as a Masonic Temple. The hotel is now home to Lüke, a Chef John Besh restaurant. Enjoy traditional brasserie cuisine with a local twist and cool cocktails at the bar.
Oversize guest rooms offer 37-inch LCD televisions with satellite service. MP3 docking stations, Lavazza coffee, high-speed Internet, and Crabtree and Evelyn bath amenities make this a destination.
