There is not a single bad view in this hotel. I stayed here for two weeks with my Dutch boyfriend and his visiting family from the Netherlands, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We had a bay view, but the other side overlooks the marina and offers just as good a view. Each room has a small balcony, and the curvature of the hotel means you can see a wide panorama of San Diego's waterfront: the bay, the skyline, Point Loma, North Island, incoming and outgoing cruise ships, and landing or low-flying aircraft. (By the way, that's the only downside I found: thundering aircraft. However, it is not constant or persistent, and in two weeks it only bothered us a few times - and only once in the morning, but for just a few minutes.) We LOVED the breakfast buffet, which was hearty and delicious and energized us properly in the morning -- and the server, "Eminem," was an absolute gem. The entire morning staff got to know us after a few days, but he always went that extra step to make us happy and comfortable -- and on my boyfriend's birthday, he comped his breakfast. The proximity to the airport is fantastic (takes 5 minutes to drive), but it does mean it's set away from most of the San Diego action. So ask at the front desk for a free shuttle pickup, and you can go to Old Town, the Gaslamp Quarter, or a variety of other major points downtown. We also rented a car, so we could get anywhere (but found parking prices to be quite high, and there is no other free option for public parking nearby.) Regardless, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and continue to rave about this place - excellent/personable guest service, unbeatable views, and spacious, comfortable, relaxing rooms. I would go back in a heartbeat - and plan to!Recommended for:
