Got a great deal on a room with a friend since we wanted to go out on Friday night in the city. The room was big, the toiletries were great (Peter Thomas Roth). The room had a great view of Coit Tower and the bay (we were in the 18th floor) and the bed was cozy. I just woke up to the room next door's running water in the shower. Thin walls...I didn't hear any conversations, just the running water in the shower.
There's a gym on the 5th floor too with treadmills, ellipticals, weights and machines, yoga mats and balls!Recommended for:

This is a pretty standard Hilton - nice but corporate feeling. It is right at the gateway to Chinatown and North Beach (both only steps away) - so a great location for exploring the city's diversity. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Parking is expensive!Recommended for:

I like this hotel mostly for the views (Coit Tower and GG Bridge) and the location (chinatown and North Beach). Public transit is reasonably convenient and many city places are easy walk. Rooms are nice, standard Hilton city hotel modern.

Great Location! We were able to explore North Beach and Chinatown, many sights to see well within walking distance.
As for the hotel, it is a pretty standard hilton. Our rooms were clean and the service was good.

A great Hilton with reasonable room rates. One of the few that have an executive lounge. Not to mention the great location, also it is here the opening to Dirty Harry was shot! The restaurant is great as well.

There are a couple of Hiltons in the city, but this one always seems to have great rates (however, the parking here is expensive...but so is most of the parking in hotels like these in the city!).
The lobby is simple but modern and neatly layed out, and they have a nice bar area.
I really like the location - it's right across the street from Chinatown. If you're craving Chinese food, you're at the most convenient location. Just walk a block down to R&G lounge for salt and pepper crab (as seen on Anthony Bourdain) or up the steep hill across the street, for small hole-in-the-walls. You'll find the best dim sum, egg tarts, and little trinket shops here!
It's also conveniently located near the Financial District!

Hilton's are generally speaking pretty nice unless you are in the Hilton in Las Vegas which is just plain weird. I like that Hilton's most often have great rates when you find a deal which isn't on their site. Try Orbitz, Expedia, or Hotels.com or priceline like some folks have mentioned and you will find this place at a great rate.
The San Francisco Hilton is in an especially good part of town if you're traveling for business but not so good if you are leisurely taking a relaxing weekend because it gets to be very 'happening' at night, read loud!
The lobby bar is really nice, and I have more than once stopped by for a drink without even intending to stick around town.
Parking is EXPENSIVE. $$$!!!Recommended for:
