Hilton Sydney

488 George Street, Sydney 2000, Australia
4.5
8 reviews

The Hilton Sydney is much fancier than any Hilton I've ever stayed in, but maybe I haven't been trying hard enough. I was certainly surprised at the service and the room based on the price I paid. I was in walking distance of the Botanical Gardens and the waterfront, so I had everything I needed.

    Grace Hotel Sydney

    Hotel Class:
    0.21 mi from Hilton Sydney
    4.5
    4 reviews

The Grace Hotel lobby seems like something a little out of Mad Men, with a kind of bygone classiness and polish that's immediately appealing. The building is a heritage site and it shows, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are immediately noticed and appreciated. The rooms were nice, with little touches of character like coffee-table books and a ...

    Fraser Suites Sydney

    Hotel Class:
    0.22 mi from Hilton Sydney
    4.5
    3 reviews

The Sydney incarnation of the luxury Fraser Suites chain will appeal especially to corporate and business travellers who want to stay in style in Sydney's CBD. Built for professionals, the large-sized suites have tons of taste and a modern decor, and everything about the hotel is crisp and polished (if occasionally also seeming a little sterile). Rooms have fantastic city ...

Exceptional service, great location, wonderful rooms. This hotel is located in a great location and begins on the 8th floor so you are guaranteed a view. While you don't have views of the opera house, you can soak in the city. Recommend buying access to the club lounge. They offer full and expansive breakfast offering. It is very spacious and ...

    Park Regis City Centre, Sydney

    4 reviews

Offering good value for money in a prime location slotted into the heart of Sydney's central business district, the Park Regis is nothing flash, but works very well as a base in, well, the city centre. The building is a little bit old, and is showing some wear, but the staff are extremely friendly and relaxed, and were always willing ...

Base is a wicked hostel. It's clean and affordable. It has girls only bathrooms and you can choose from a range of rooms from doubles and twins to dorms for 4 to 10 people, some en-suite. There's a 24 hour reception and you can book loads of excursions, bus tickets etc at their travel desk. There is wifi throughout the ...

The latest opening from the slave to design QT brand, which has other properties in Port Douglas, Queensland and Surfers Paradise, on the Gold Coast. Occupying a former department store building, this boutique hotel is a veritable showcase of cutting edge Aussie design at its best and most exuberant. At 200 rooms, it's too large to feel intimate but this ...

The Castlereagh Botique Hotel is a fine place to stay in Sydney. It is located centrally and provides you with easy access to many of the inner neighborhoods and the CBD itself. On weekends the surrounding neighborhood becomes quiet in the evenings and is a bit less safe than the rest of the city. If we were to return, we'd ...

We were a little desperate to find a hotel that's walking distance to the Sydney Harbor for New Year's Eve. Like other area hotels Metro Hotel required a three night minimum. However unlike other area hotels it was affordable! ($350 AUD vs. $700+ AUD). That made the longish walk through Chinatown to Circular Quay worth it. However a few more ...

Very dated property and interior, a bit like one of those down-at-heel Hyatts you might find in some U.S. cities. The service unremarkable and lacking in charm. On the plus side, our suite had a great view and was comfortable.

Probably my favourite hotel in Sydney overall, winning top marks for its awesome location in a rehabbed heritage warehouse on the waterfront, midway between the Royal Botanic Gardens and the leafy heights of Potts Point. While the decor in the rooms is a bit understated for my taste, they ARE certainly posh, comfortable, and well-appointed, with windows that open out ...

A top choice for high-end accommodation near Circular Quay, the Opera House, and the Botanic Gardens, I love the InterContinental's classic sandstone facade and beautiful lobby lounge, with brick arches and towering ceilings. Rooms have absolutely stunning views, with choices of the city (cheapest), eastern harbour (more expensive), or Opera House (most expensive). They're also extremely plush and well-maintained, and ...

A nice option in Kings Cross for those looking to stay a little bit upscale, the Diamant offers decent value for money, with tasteful modern decor. Some of the rooms are showing a little bit of wear, but it's hard to argue with the location, a very short walk to the Kings Cross train station and to buses all over ...

Part hostel and part archaeological project, The Sydney Harbour YHA, on a quiet street in the Rocks neighborhood overlooking the water, instantly has a certain cool about it. Though it's pricey by hostel standards, the dorms are very new (each with an ensuite bathroom), and while the privates are basic, they're also spotless, with solid bathrooms. The industrial-warehouse-style floorplan is ...

    The Darling

An ultra-modern boutique property, everything about this place is chic and trendy. The staff are young and hip (if sometimes a little fake-eager), and all facets of the decor are custom-made, right down to the "rope room", a lounge area in the luxe house Japanese restaurant decorated in jet-black twists of hanging rope. The Darling gets huge numbers of Asian ...

You could not ask for a better location than the Marriott Sydney. It is literally like 3 blocks away from the Harbour and several of the rooms have views of the harbour. First impressions do make a difference, and my first impression of the Menzies was of a drunk homeless guy crashed out directly outside. The entire hotel had a feel of a place aping old-timey luxury -- with faux-plush carpets showing heavy wear and the moulding on the lobby ceiling being scraped off and repaired by a couple of grizzled tradies. ...

Though I can't complain one bit about the view here, I can complain about the service. The Sofitel goes for understated luxury and, on a whole, succeeds. A short walk from Circular Quay in the northern CBD, the staff here are unfailingly professional and service is crisp. The Sofitel has good value city-view rooms, or splashier terrace-view rooms, all with deliciously soft king beds, plush beige decor, and flat-screen TVs. With ENORMOUS one- and two-bedroom suites (yes, there are staircases!) in a super-cool old warehouse building located just west of Darling Harbour, this OAKS property shouldn't be confused with the OAKS Maestri Towers in the city, which are only for long stays of three months or more. And while this hotel is a bit out on the edges of things ...
