Siena brings to mind the reality of the idea of the Medieval City stuck in time. When I walked around the Siena Piazza del Campo (the most important town square in Siena) I felt transported back to a bygone era. I felt that throughout Italia, but particularly so in beautiful Siena.

Very good food and atmosphere. The staff is friendly. Best to get there for an early lunch- the restaurant fills up quick. Otherwise, reservation is best. They're food is freshly made and portion sizes are perfect.Popular withLuxuryFoodiesFamilies

It's been a while since I was there but here's a quote from my journal, "I liked the waiter and owner. When I arrived the owner was sitting in a chair in front of the place and the waiter was in the square having a smoke. "Fredo, Fredo! A customer!" The food was very good and the atmosphere relaxed." Sounds ...Popular withHistoryLocalDesign

Wow. This restaurant was our best Italian experience. The lasagna, ricotta gnocchi covered with fresh truffle, lamb chops and the burger (yes, the burger) were divine. I loved the burger which was a patty made of hand-chopped filet, wrapped with bacon, smothered with mustard and cheese sauce, and accompanied with delicious roasted potatoes. The lasagna was crispy on the the ...Popular withFoodiesFamiliesAdventure

We ate here twice in our 4 day stay. The homemade pasta is amazing! Our absolute favorites were the risotto with zucchini flowers and pecorino (ruined for life! I will never be able to enjoy another risotto again!) and the ravioli with sage, spinach and ricotta (heaven!). The molten chocolate cake was also good and the wine selection was excellent. ...Popular withFoodiesLocalNightlife

Really good pizza in a nice and cozy environment. Their pizza sauce is really tasty and the crust is perfect, just the way italian pizzas should be. Service is ok considering italian standards, which mean people are friendly but not necessarily efficient. The zucchini/ham appetizer was really good too.

Cice is a cozy and stylish little restaurant in Siena. Someone from our hotel recommended the place and we decided to give it a try in our last night in Siena and it was totally worth it. The food and wine are delicious and the environment is really nice. A lot of locals eating here, a proof that the place ...Popular withFoodies

This picture speaks for itself, but the gelato was over-the-top and outrageously good. Italy knows how to do Gelato!

It's not every day that you get to eat dinner in a 900 year old building! I loved the medieval-inspired Italian food and decorations. They also have a pretty extensive gluten-free menu, which is why we went to this gem in the first place. We ended up loving it!Popular withFoodiesHistoryDesign

OMG, this is the best gelato I had while in Italy. I had pistachio, strawberry and lemon (somewhat odd combination but I was going for the Italian colors). Pistachio was out of this world and strawberry and lemon (both sorbet) were so refreshing. If you are in Siena and going to Il Campo (you should), go there first, get some ...

Grom is the go-to place for gelato in Siena. Open until midnight or later, it has the perfect location right near the Campo. Grom, although a chain throughout Italy, prides itself on small batches with no artificial additives. Although not the best gelato I've ever had, it was consistently good with a wide variety of fruit flavors for sorbet.Popular withFoodies

Less than 5 minutes walk from Il Campo, this restaurant offers typical Sienese delights that surely please visitors. Waiting staff is very friendly and prices are very reasonable, much better than those restaurants right on Il Campo serving inferior food, in my opinion.

Great place to go, if you like wine. The Enoteca is a centralized collection, and celebration, of Italian wine. It has a selection of DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita - Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin), DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata - Controlled Denomination of Origin), IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica - Typical Geographical Provenance), and other wines and ...
