Nearly the entire Historic Centre of Warsaw was painstakingly rebuilt after World War II—exactly the way it looked in late 18th century. Why the late 18th century? The Venetian painter Bernardo Bellotto came to Poland and produced some very detailed paintings of Warsaw in 1764. Those were the model for the recreated city.

the Historic Center of Warsaw has seen much glory in its heydays before the German invasion, much horror and destruction during the German invasion, and much revival after the Germans left. Even though much of the original old town was destroyed and since been rebuilt, this historical center of the city still offers a lot for today's visitors and locals alike. Restaurants, cafes, shops, and history get along very well here!

Old Town Market Square. This is the most touristy spot in all of Warsaw. The buildings surrounding the square were entirely rebuilt after World War II. I wouldn't recommend having a meal here but it's not a bad place to grab a snack and a drink in the late afternoon, before the dinner crowd flocks in.
