Located inside a bank building constructed in 1914 The Last Bookstore is a welcome addition to downtown Los Angeles. What it lacks in depth of coverage of particular areas it makes up with its scope of available topics. You can even browse inside the bank's old vault for books.

From the outside the Bradbury Building doesn't stand out from the other old buildings downtown. But the interior is absolutely gorgeous. Wrought iron and wood and marble, with cage elevators standing free in the cavernous space. Definitely worth poking your head in, especially if you were in the area to check out Grand Central Market, the Million Dollar Theater, or ...

I can't wait to try another one of Yoko's classes. She is so sweet, makes the cooking instruction fun AND informative, and the food turned out wonderful! It's great for small groups of people, since classes are held in a more intimate apartment.

I have yet to see a performance at Grand Performances that I vibed with really well. Hey, I'm not saying this free concert series sucks (b/c it's great! And I love that they provide this to the public for free); I'm just saying that perhaps I just haven't had the best luck with picking the right performances to see. I ...

It's got nothing on San Francisco's Union Square, but at least the city is trying hard to revive it as a public plaza. There's an ice skating rink in the winter (December/January). Also occasional festivals or markets are held here.

Very unique little hole-in-the-wall type of bar in downtown LA. Has an interesting red theme going on inside, with red lights & an otherwise darkened interior. There is a courtyard at the back of the bar where you go back out into sunlight, that also has a central awning-covered area with chairs served by a small bar. Very friendly staff ...

The tallest building of the West Mississippi. One of the most memorable fourth of July I experienced was on the 71st floor. I got to see a 360 view of Los Angeles when there were fireworks!!!! This was the first time they opened it up for this kind of event. $22, they only sold 500 tickets. The fee included the ...

However, here's the facts: seats are pretty uncomfortable, but go ...

At one time Los Angeles's entertainment center was on Broadway. Many of the theaters from that era remain, possibly the finest collection of still standing art deco structures in the United States. A few still function as theaters. Others are empty, the bottom levels rented to a mixture of low priced stores. Broadway's still standing theaters include the Million Dollar ...

Bike store that's hidden in downtown LA. If you like fixed gear bikes aka "fixie" then this place is worth a visit. You have to know what you want or need before coming in though, that always helps. Most of the frames are custom-made by the owner himself, so that's a plus.
