Located right on the edge of downtown, Town Lake, and the highway makes this one of the best locations in Austin if you’re hoping to do a little bit of everything while you’re here. There are actually two “towers” you can stay in. One is octagon shaped and honestly can feel a little dizzying in the hallways. The other is a more standard shape, has a rooftop pool and a 24-hour gym. Only negative to the two different towers is it can man having to take 2 elevator rides and a bit of a walk if you’re wanting to get to the gym or pool from the octagon tower. There is a restaurant and bar in the center lobby between the two towers that is dark-lit and lounge themed. My favorite part of this hotel is there is a sailboat, kayak, paddleboard and bike rental on the property.Recommended for:

This particular Holiday Inn can be easily seen off highway 35 right at the exit to Lady Bird Lake because the building is shaped as a tall, round skyscraper. The lobby area is decorated with tall ceilings and heavy velvet curtains with modern furniture. There is a restaurant down the end of one hall that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner not included with the stay. There is also a bar opposite the restaurant that offers happy hour. There is also a gift shop, an outside swimming pool on the 6th floor of the building overlooking Austin and Lady Bird Lake, as well as a fitness center. Free WIFI and free shuttle service to the airport is included with the stay. The rooms are small “60’s fashioned” with a bed at its center, a lounge chair, a bureau with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee, and a flat screen TV. The bathroom offers all necessary toiletries including a hairdryer.Recommended for:

This is an extremely impressive Holiday Inn, mainly due to its prime location, right on the banks of Ladybird Lake and just a short drive from downtown. Guest rooms are perfectly clean, but not exceptionally luxurious. But swoon-inducing features, like the scenic rooftop swimming pool and lounge area, private movie theater and the fact that all of the lakeside recreational activities (like kayaking, guided lake and batwatching tours, stand-up paddleboarding) are just outside, make it a real bargain for your money.Recommended for:

At first I was thinking this place is a bit too worn. There's fading in the carpet from foot traffic, the elevator doors have been scraped up by carts or drunks. But, hey, this thing is right on the river, next to the city's best trail that runs the river for miles. And they tent kayaks and do city tours right out of the hotel parking lot. There's a bar for the evenings and restaurant for the morning. Get a room on the south side for a river view. It's all highway and buildings to the north.Recommended for:
