Pretty much everyone has heard of Holiday Inn. You can find them all over the world, and they usually offer good value and service. The Holiday Inn in Lisbon is no exception. It’s some distance away from the center of the city, but it is near several metro stations, as well as Lisbon’s main bullfighting ring (yes, this activity still takes place here). In addition to a small rooftop gym, there is also a small rooftop pool, which affords beautiful views over the city and part of the river. The hotel has one restaurant on the ground floor, and two bars. The rooms, as expected, are clean and neat, and you can choose from a variety of sizes. If you do plan on staying here, you should walk over to the nearby office building that serves as the main headquarters for Portugal’s national bank (Caixa Geral de Depósitos). It’s quite a sight to see. On the north side (the side facing away from the hotel) of this gargantuan building, you’ll find a kind of oasis garden, complete with a bridge and several fountains, right in front of the entrance. This is just one of the perks, not listed in most guides, of booking a room at this particular Holiday Inn.Recommended for:

I chose the Holiday Inn because it was close to the business meetings I had to attend, and I'm glad I did. I got a huge, comfortable room at a cheap price (although many things in Lisbon are cheap). There's a nice park nearby, and there are a couple of restaurants nearby.
