Only 25 to 30 minutes away.
Great open air venue with great entertainment.
California nights can be cool so bring a light jacket.
Use the Park and Ride system. Check it out on the Hollywood Bowl's website.
Buses pick you up at the parking lots and return you after the event.Recommended for:

There is something about the bowl that brings out so much romance!
my guy was fully prepped with goodies in his trader joe shoulder cooler, from 3 different types of cheese on top of crackers with salami for our meat eating friends to tomatoes and even nann bread with hummus!
I brought 3 bottles of wine and finished 2 and a half of it! With the one or 2 stars that were shinny above us and the beautiful romantic music of the Pianist- it truly was the epitome of romance!
I suggest everyone to be fully prepped with a picnic because it really truly makes the night that magical!
The uphill climb may be an incredibly terribly exhausting but they have escalator to sort of help accommodate this to a certain point. Parking is also kind of pricey, at $17 down hill - i think people should think about taking the metro for $10 !Recommended for:

First time here for Korean music festival. Amazing venue I'm in love. Clean bathroom and great view wherever u sit.
Byod and bring a blanket.
Love how I could see the Hollywood sign from here!
Super glad we took the subway then the bus . Parking looks too scary here. I don't understand how the stacked parking works.Recommended for:

You could plan a trip to LA around seeing a favorite performer at the Hollywood Bowl. The open air, scenery, sound, all fantastic. And the food concessions were great too, or bring a picnic and something to sit on. Last time I was there it was a Bollywood concert and incredibly fun. We took the bus to get there. It was so easy!Recommended for:

One of the most incredible venues I've ever been to! What a gem to have this music venue in la! Must visit if you've never been! You can bring alcohol into the concert and food as well!Recommended for:

the best large outdoor venue for live music in the LA area! Use the park and ride shuttle($5 per person) for less hassle or pay ($20+ depending on the event) to tandem park at the bottom of the hill and be trapped in for quite awhile, then deal with the traffic on Highland - not so much fun! Picnicking on the grounds however, is the most peaceful and enjoyable experience - weather you pack your own in your basket or pick up dinner to bring and enjoy here (which I like to do sometimes, so I won't be lugging around a bunch of stuff up and down the hill). I'm usually so relaxed that by the time I pay my $1 for a seat cushion and the breeze is going, sun starts to set - I am ready for a nap :) Bring a jacket or blanket so you can snuggle up once it gets a little chilly out. This is a great place for families, kids, friends and can be quite romantic for a date. A wonderful experience. We've been going to summer concerts each year for awhile now. We were recently here for Star Wars, Zac Brown Band and A Magical Night in Paris with the can can dancers from the Moulin Rouge in Paris - the fireworks are so much fun! We've also seen Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Faith Hill and many many others. There's an affordable seat for everyone. Go and enjoy a magical night at the bowl! Oh, this is also a great place for kids - since we live nearby my son has gone on several field trips here and the kids just love it. They get to go on stage and see many instruments, so whenever we are there - no matter where we are seated or who we are seeing he always makes mention that he too has been on the stage to perform ;)Recommended for:

The Hollywood Bowl was started by a group of community activists who wanted a summer home for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The first regular season of music began on July 11, 1922 as "Hollywood Bowl Summer Popular Concerts." "Under the Stars" performances continue to this day.
A traditional custom is to picnic outside the park prior to a performance or, if seated in the box seats, to use the foldout tables attached within each box and picnic at your seat. Parking at the Bowl is generally horrendous. It is best to look at the Hollywood Bowl website, find your nearest Bowl bus departing point, and take the bus.

The Hollywood Bowl is the largest natural amphitheater in the United States, with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000. In addition to the hundreds of concerts and festivals spanning all varieties of music it hosts throughout the year, The Bowl is the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Check their website (http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/tickets/calendar) for event and ticket information. Shows often sell out in advance, but Craig’s List (LA) can be a great way to find people who need to sell their tickets at the last minute.

I love playing here!!! I want to play here all the time.
I've also enjoyed watching many concerts here over the years, the perfect outdoor venue! Take the park n ride bus and enjoy the ride with no stress. The bus brings you back right after the concert.
