The Hollywood Bowl is a historic outdoor concert venue. The front section are boxes where you can set up a picnic, supplying your own food and drink.
Although I don't know if it's supposed to be open during the day, I haven't had a problem walking in.

One of the best places to experience a musical performance. The sound quality of the venue is amazing as is the atmosphere. Come early, have a picnic, drink wine while you listen the concert. Part of the LA cultural world for decades (it shows up in Bugs Bunny cartoons from the 40's & 50's) visitors and locals alike should go here.

Summer concerts!!!! "Music it's the language which links us as a people-borders divorce, colors emerge and mix, and we find those voices which unite North, Central, and South America as one" Gustavo Dudamel

Saw 3 Radiohead concerts here in the last 12 years and have to say this is one of my favorite venues. While it does not have the grandness of say, Red Rocks, this historic outdoor concert setting has been home to many other legendary performances (too many to list).
The big problem is securing tickets as close to the front as possible. With big name shows, the really good seats are already scooped up by record companies and execs, many distributed to employees, friends, and of course Hollywood insiders. This is one of the reasons why when you try a 10 am pull on Ticketmaster (should you even get through), that you might end up in the "hills". Fanclub presale? Good luck, unless you are a member of W.A.S.T.E for a Radiohead gig, and are really lucky, you might score a single Garden Box, or a Terrace. Pool circle? Fork out half of your left nut for a ticket, or keep rolling the dice. At really big name shows, you might get lucky encountering a celebrity (A list B list C list D list) in the restroom, or on your way out. Brad Pitt? Depends. Chris Katan? More likely on your way out.
For not so big name shows, you can also pay a premium for their "picnic" food and fold out a table and enjoy a show.

This is a great place to be on a warm summer night. Check out the schedule of what's playing (musicals, symphonies, operas, etc.) and order tickets ahead of time. Try to catch a shuttle near your place which drops you off right in front. It's much cheaper than parking near the Bowl and gets you out of the traffic much faster too. Pack a picnic basket and get there early to lounge around before enjoying your show. Sometimes if the show you're at isn't too packed, you can move down closer to the stage during intermission.

The largest amphitheater I've ever seen! I guess it is actually the largest in the US...lol. Went last night for the sold out show to Yo-Yo Ma x Gustavo Dudamel, and had a fantastic experience. The place is so well designed/engineered that they didn't even need speakers to amplify the sound of the orchestra. Even with 18,000 people attending, getting out wasn't that bad!

Great place to see your favorite performers! Wonderful acoustics, great seating, and the warm open-air feeling is just the right mix. I have seen a few different shows here and they all have been outstanding! From music to comedy, this place pulls the best from the artists who take the stage! You have to catch an act here whenever you may have the opportunity to.
