Living on its past glories as a hotel for Hollywood stars its impersonal, soulless, noisy and the staff don't care for their visitors. No plug in the sink, noisy air con and a room over Hollywood Boulevard doesn't make for a good stay. The hotel doesn't do breakfast, so you have to eat out. I wouldn't go there again

I had a horrifying experience at the Roosevelt: I checked-in to my room and discovered bloody tissues on the bed, prompting me to call the front desk immediately. Their responded by sending up a bottle of champagne, but they could not get housekeeping to appear for hours and by the time the room was clean, I was so grossed-out, I did not even end up spending the night.

This historical Hollywood hotel was not only the site of the first Oscars but the current site of many celebrity sightings :) If you have come to Hollywood to see the glitzy Hollywood you dream of, this is the perfect hotel for you. Hollywood itself may not be what you imagined, but the Roosevelt will be that and more.
The rooms are chic- and the pool is awesome. The Roosevelt has the best pool parties in LA so make sure to go when the sun is shining.

I've stayed in better rooms in LA and had the misfortune on my first night to be in the 'Expedia room' (so unofficially dubbed as that's where they put people booking cheaper rates), where there was no view and a spotlight shone into the room all night. I got moved to a better room with a view the following day. Funky pool area which attracts a smattering of beautiful people and wannabes, particularly at weekends.

When I need a hotel in LA, I can't go past the Roosevelt. Such an amazing place, steeped in history. It was the venue for the first ever Oscars. I party quite a bit in the rooms and it's incredibly hard to be booted out. That being said, I was banned for two years but we all seem to be getting on swimmingly now :)

The rooms are really spacious and the will also look after regulars with upgrades. The first thing I do when I touch down in LA is get my buddy to drive me straight to the Roosevelt for some strawberry daiquiris by the pool. The Tropicana bar poolside is fantastic, you can't get more quintessential LA than that.

This is an institution in Hollywood. Been there forever. In fact you can even stay in one of the old rooms that's been renovated, but it's still got that old charm to the fittings and pipes, etc. The newer rooms are along the pool - where there is quite a scene at night in the bar area. This is a great place to hang for a drink and meet friends, even if you're not staying here. The drink prices are not cheap but they're not as bad as Sunset Blvd. The restaurant in the hotel is very good and has a good wine list also. Nice atmosphere.

There's something unique about this dark and dimly lit hotel that is full of plastic life every night of the week and a delicious 24 hour burger bar that almost, almost leaves you the impression that this is where you want to stay.

But who wants to stay on Hollywood? Trust me, it's not a great place. You might think its a great location but you are actually more or less confined to the area in which you are staying in, the walkable distance that you are willing to do, and the immense amount of foot and car traffic you will have to deal with on a daily basis while you stay here.

Although admittedly lots of attractive young Hollywood couples frequent the bar where you can hardly see if they're old or young from the lighting, and the burger bar ... well lets' just say 25 degrees is a must, it's not really my first choice in LA hotels.

To begin with, it's old, very old, it's got history, and it's supposedly haunted. Again excitment, yay...raww... but other than that, you're paying a high price for an illusion of class and comfort that the hotel simply doesn't bring. Yes again, the beautiful people at the bar and the pool and the lounge and the list goes on. So I guess this is a great people watching hotel if you are so inclined. Find a good deal and give it a try for a night, otherwise just stroll by and that's all you really need.

I'm torn with this review. The Roosevelt is a great hotel to have drinks and be seen. It's ritzy, lobby/pool is gorgeous, and you're bound to see celebrities.

But if you're staying here, the rooms are T-I-N-Y and not that fabulous. Especially since you're likely to drop a pretty penny.

I think it's worth staying here once just to experience The Roosevelt and its history/glam but I think I would rather head down the street and stay at W.

    Overall, 2.5 Stars.

Make sure to check out David Arquette and Beacher's Madhouse! They open end of Oct. 2010. Will be like nothing you've seen before.
