Description

From the outside, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe may seem rather unassuming and pedestrian. You may be drawn over by its curious nature or you may be seeking it out expressly. Either way, the extremely conceptual brainchild of Peter Eisenman and Burro Happold is not to be missed on any trip to Berlin. Step into the maze of concrete blocks and prepare to be swallowed into its incredible depth. Aside from its extremely obvious historical importance and significance, the field of monoliths is extremely physically imposing-- for good reason. You're meant to feel the gravity and weight of the stone as you wind your way through the negative spaces. Despite being an incredible sombre and humbling experience, you'll leave with a new appreciation for Berlin and for history.
