Mmm, she crab soup ... one of my favorite things about visiting South Carolina. And the Hominy Grill has my favorite in Charleston. The restaurant is just outside of the main tourist center of town, so it gets a mostly local crowd. Extremely reasonable priced, this is the place to come for all of the local delicacies: fried okra, fried green tomatoes, cornbread, catfish. Oh. I need to fly back to Charleston now.

This restaurant is one of the top recommendations when you ask about restaurants in Charleston. It is small, but also has an outdoor patio. The food was very good. Some notable menu items are their famed Shrimp & Grits and the Big Nasty Biscuit.
