Hong Kong Hotel Insider
At its root, Hong Kong is a center of finance and commerce. Going back to the opium trade and beyond, this tidy harbor city-state situated on China's south coast, enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and the South China Sea, has now been welcoming business travelers and ... read more
financiers to its shores for centuries. So it should be no surprise that modern day Hong Kong has become one of Asia's most cosmopolitan cities and an epicenter of international trade. What may seem more unusual is just how quickly this former British colony has blossomed into a vibrant vacation destination. Amid the soaring vertical skyline, industrious seaport, supercharged high-tech subways and utterly safe, crisply organized streets of this dense urban stronghold, business and leisure travelers both will quickly discover Hong Kong is an unusual mixture of old-world tranquility and futuristic allure. A slew of glitzy shops, extravagant hotels, swanky restaurants and chic cocktail bars rise into the architectual heights above, providing stellar people watching and ensuring Hong Kong remains at the cutting edge of food, fashion and technology. But locals and travelers alike also take great pleasure in exploring the wonderful assortment of uniquely Hong Kong urban adventures and peaceful moments buried within the city limits. Where to start? The list is long: sample odd local delicacies in Hong Kong's wet market; dig deep into a world of exotic fare among the historic Shanghai-style alleyways of Sheung Wan; experience Cantonese Opera outside a Chinese bazaar at the Temple Street Night Market; or join throngs of Hong Kong locals gambling on their favorite horses at the Happy Valley Racecourse. For a quieter moment in the big city, many will choose to head to the top of Victoria Peak to take in the views or relax among the temple gardens, ponds and pavilions of New Kowloon or Hong Kong Park. Another fun option with a nod to the island's British colonial roots is to head over to the Peninsula Hotel for a luxurious afternoon of high tea. No matter which direction you choose, there's plenty to pique an urban explorer's interest before retiring to one of Hong Kong's many posh high-rise hotels or budget-friendly guest houses.

Luxury Hotels in Hong Kong
In a tiny, dense harbor metropolis housing seven million people and boasting the best of what wealth and technology can buy, it's to be expected that space would come at a premium and in a whole range of decadent styles. Hotels in Hong Kong rise high above the streets and Victoria Harbor, offering visitors all manner of luxury and extravagance for those who can afford the bill. One of Hong Kong's oldest hotels, The Peninsula, is a legendary property that harkens back to a by-gone era of grandeur and glamour in travel. Built upon a blend of Eastern and Western style and hospitality, the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong sets the standard for luxury, showcasing antiques, historical artifacts, lavish spa facilities, noteworthy culinary experiences and even Rolls-Royce service. For a more contemporary take on luxury, take your pick among the numerous outstanding Hong Kong hotels vying for top honors among the ranks. The acclaimed Conrad Hong Kong in the center of the city's business district is a smart combination of modern elegance and sophisticated luxury, featuring such amenities as an outdoor swimming pool, health club, 12 meeting rooms (accommodating between 8 and 1000 guests!), innovative on-site restaurants and a spectacular Grand Ballroom. Over in Kowloon, one will find a variety of other similarly modern luxury hotels that also deliver the highest caliber service, facilities and amenities. Such names include the five-star Langham Place Hotel (with its Michelin Star rated Ming Court restaurant), the Royal Plaza Hotel, Hotel Icon, The Mira Hong Kong and the W Hong Kong.

Budget Hotels and Mid-Range Hotels in Hong Kong
Bright lights, big business and vertical extravagance, that's the theme in over-the-top Hong Kong. As such, most travelers come prepared for steep prices and small spaces. Hotel rooms across Asia tend to run small and in Hong Kong that trend can be magnified. But while space does come at a premium, fortunately for those on a stricter budget, Hong Kong also houses a variety of local, boutique and chain hotels offering comfortable accommodations without the exaggerated features that bring highest prices. The Sohotel Hong Kong is a small boutique hotel in the heart of the Sheung Wan district featuring city views plus rooms and suites of varying sizes (guests pay more for more square feet) that include all the basic amenities a traveler might require. Likewise, ten strategically located Bridal Tea House Hotels have been established near Hong Kong's public transportation networks, providing business and leisure travelers with attentive service and clean, comfortable rooms at decent prices. In Kowloon, the Acesite Hotel in the central Monkok neighborhood offers simple, homey guest rooms across 23-floors at good rates. Rooms at the Imperial Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui (the premier retail, cultural and leisure district) won't break the bank and puts travelers just a short walk to many of Hong Kong's most popular tourist attractions. Guest houses -- residential buildings set up for overnight, weekly and sometimes monthly stays, often with a creative use of space to maximize their offerings -- are a uniquely Hong Kong approach to short term housing. However, quality, cleanliness and size can run the gamut, so it is important to pick carefully when selecting one. These simple accommodations can be among the best cheap options in town. Try Rent-a Room in the Jordan district for an affordable overnight stay in a convenient location. What you'll lose in fancy you'll gain in spending money to use during your stay.

I love this property located in Central Hongkong. It has a scenic view from its rooms facing other hotels, green lush mountains and swimming pool. The room size is comparatively smaller yet clean, hygenic and comfortable. All dining options are awesome with wide variety of cuisines being offered in all their inhouse restaurants. Azure (in the LKF hotel) is one of my favorite go-to spots in LKF. It's free to enter, but you must buy a drink to get up to the dance floor and roofdeck. It's great on Saturdays for dancing (electro pop music). For a more chill experience, you can play pool and enjoy drinks on the first floor.
