Hong Kong is the paradise for shopping and eating. There are many shopping malls as well as markets. Not to mention the famous dimsum and local cafeteria. The famous markets are at the Temple Street and Ladies street. Be careful with the belongings when shopping at the market. Central is a good place for shopping with many well known brands. The Citygate Outlets at Tung Chung offer discounted items. Besides the shopping malls, do visit Lantau Island Big Buddha and also nearby fishing village, Tai O which has another different feel.

I've been here 5 times, and each time is always different, and I still don't know my way around. So sad. I'm afraid to take the bus, because I wouldn't know how to get around. But the MTR is one of the best ever. I love it, its so convenient.
I love HK, food mostly but I would never be able to live there. The people there get to me and the air is too polluted.
But overall, I believe HK is one of the places you should visit before you die.

I loved Hong Kong! Staying there for only one week was definitely not enough for me. It is such a beautiful and lively place. Shopping in Hong Kong was crazy but fun. If you want to bring souvenirs back, make sure to stop by Ladies' Market. If you're looking to enjoy the beautiful Hong Kong skyline, you can't miss out on Avenue of the Stars. The night life there was amazing. Lan Kwai Fong was one of the largest bar streets I've ever been to. I really want to go back to Hong Kong. I went during the summer (typhoon season), so avoid that!

This city is awesome. Great food, tons of shopping, and plenty of things to see and do! I love that you can get everything from super cheap street food & clothes/accessories from markets to more classy food at nice restaurants and fancy clothes in stores. There are also a ton of attractions, whether you want to go to a theme park or climb a mountain, or whatever. Awesome!!

Hong Kong is a world class city with something for everyone. From the expat centric area of Central to the more traditional Kowloon tourists and residents alike can get an experience of everything. What makes it better is the MTR which gets you from point A to B in record time.

Amazing multicultural city! Stay in Kowloon if you can and don't forget to go see the light show at 8 at the viewing platform! (A couple of days will be enough to get a good feel of the city)

Excellent food, great shopping, affordable taxis, efficient subway, what's not to like? For kids, there are Ocean Park and Disneyland. For more educational exhibits, I suggest Ocean Park. Compared to Disneyland in the States, the one in HK is really small.

You can go to the art museum by the harbor and do some tai chi with one of hong kong's best then walk down avenue of stars and pose with Bruce lee. Then you can go see giant Buddha statue or hop on a ferry to the island with the botanical gardens, synagogues, bars and sky scrapers as well as a trail to lover's rock with a view of the city hard to beat. Then go back to downtown and explore the hidden bars inside of each high rise, the hidden malls and the blocks of street food as you head north on Nathan road. I could spend a loony time in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is an incredible city, the sky line extends far beyond that of New York. All the sky scrapers are newly standing, with modern shapes and even unique window dressings. From Victoria's Peak to a small fishing village- Hong Kong is a paradox of new financial wealth and ancient culture. I visited Hong Kong for business, but was fortunate enough to experience some of the more cultural sites and nightlife hot spots.

I was born here. I love Hong Kong because I lived there since I was born for 2 years and then I moved to Canada. But when I compare the 2 countries, Canada was definitely more peaceful. But the thing I like the most about Hong Kong is that it is so convenient! ;) Rock on HONG KONG! ~~

Stay at the W Hotel for the pool view or the 4 Seasons for a better pool. You need to keep cool.

Hong Kong is for serious shoppers. There are so many shopping areas and malls, I constantly found myself back in their comforting air conditioning without even trying. I thought about indulging in high-end shopping at brands like Gucci, visited an upscale mall (pictured above), and ventured into some of the more local shops on Kowloon. However, Hong Kong is a naturally beautiful city nestled in the hills, and Victoria Peak allows for this gorgeous view. One day I found myself with some extra time, so I hoped on a short ferry (about an hour) over to Macau for some gambling and fine food in their many casinos. This proved to be a great way to spend an afternoon.

I landed here on a Wednesday night in December 2011, took the train straight to Wan Chai to meet my friend. I rolled up with my suitcase to the bar she was at with her friends. She greeted me with a drink and introduced me to all her friends even before I put my suitcase away. I realized quickly that this is life in Hong Kong - social, hospitable, outgoing, and fast. For the next 4 nights I had so much fun clubbing in LKF, drinking in Wan Chai, jogging through Mong Kok, and pub crawling with a bunch of expats dressed as Santa all through the city. The amount of fun I had in just five days is of illegal proportions. Hong Kong = AWESOME

Hong Kong is unlike anywhere else I've been. A fascinating combination of influences and extremes, I definitely want to return and explore further.

Description

The former British colony has always been an immeasurably important point of trade – from the opium trade in the 1800’s to a major financial center -- Hong Kong has blossomed into a energizing vacation destination. Even though the harbor city returned to Chinese sovereignty in 1997 as a 'special administrative region,' Hong Kong retains innumerable distinctions -- a separate currency, left-side ... read more
driving, a capitalist-friendly economic system. Simply admiring the way life in the most densely populated region in the world is a highlight of a visit to Hong Kong -- from floating homes on fishing junks in Aberdeen to the ubiquitous high-rise -- but leave the city center for top attractions, such as Lantau Island's “The Big Buddha,” a 250-ton statue of Buddha. Harbor cruises, shopping, and riding the Peak Tram to see Hong Kong from above are also popular things to do. You’ll find excellent dim sum restaurants here, in addition to succulent roast meats and noodles. If you want an extravagant hotel, Hong Kong will do you right, but dozens of guesthouses and hostels offer simple rooms for less.
