Eating at Duke's is a right of passage for all visitors to the Hawaiian Islands. They make very good and consistent food and drink. Mai Tai's and tuna ahi come to mind when I think of this restaurant. The location on the beach is fantastic.

This place is historic and famous. It's been on the show "Diners, Drive-Inns and Dives" - all for good reason. You don't want to miss out on the loco moco, or really any of the plate lunches for that matter. This is your typical Hawaiian plate lunch joint, and everyone loves coming here because it's fun, quick and ridiculously ono! ...

Definitely one of my top Chinatown places to eat and drink. Always have 3 great pizza specials which change daily. Standard beers on tap - leaning more towards drafts that cater towards the Irish bar scene though. Open late, always packed. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but don't let it deter you! Definitely a local favorite!

This Ward location is smack dab in the middle of the complex. As the dinner part of my dinner and movie date with my boyfriend, Goma Tei felt lackluster given my previous experience and the rave reviews! Was craving ramen for dinner so I suggested Goma Tei. It's also close to the theaters as part of our date so off ...

This is what defines shave ice from inferior snow cones: Delicate and melt-in-your-mouth, you won't have to go to the dentist after for cracked teeth. Waiola was my first experience with shave ice when I still lived on Oahu. The mango shave ice is particularly delicious and made with real fruit. Of course, the azuki (red bean) is an island ...

    Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar

Near the gigantic Ala Moana Mall, this Japanese izakaya is part of a chain, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Prices are more reasonable and lines are shorter than at many of Honolulu's more haute izakaya. The boisterous atmosphere is great for groups and the joint is usually open fairly late. A huge picture menu makes ordering easy if ...

Contributing to Town's hip atmosphere are its rotating art exhibits. Currently showing: small canvases and sculptures by creepy-cool muralist Ryan Higa. Who knew he also worked in miniature? Love it.
