This is one of the best beaches in the world for so many reasons. The slow, rolling waves make it simple to learn to surf. The access to Honolulu is immediate, and the coastline is bordered with fantastic hotels, restaurants, and fun things to do. Sunsets are epic.

Wonderful experience. Reefs are in fairly shallow water. A 5' tall person can wade out to the nearest reefs and see a few of the braver fish. Bring an underwater camera! And go early. By 9:30 or so the water is noticeably cloudier from all the swimmers churning up the sandy bottom.

Be careful if hiking from your hotel and using the map it feature on this app. It took us to a residential neighborhood on the opposite side of the mountain. Hopefully the administrators of the app will correct this issue.

There's a good reason this WWII historic site is the #1 most visited tourist attraction in Hawaii. Examining the events of December 7, 1941, when the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor, this National Park Service (NPS) site is an emotionally moving place to visit, no matter what your political persuasion. A brand-new visitor center and museum opened in December 2010, ...

Fun hike with great photo ops at the falls. They have spread rocks/shells along most of the muddy areas (except near the top) so we managed to keep our shoes fairly clean!

Honolulu's Chinatown is a vibrant, authentic neighborhood and worth a half day wander to take in the markets, restaurants, boutiques, noodle factories and people watch.
