After going on another Appetizer Crawl at Downtown Disney, this time w/ my buddy Rohlin, I decided to have a nightcap at Hooters. And by nightcap, I mean MORE food LoL.
At the OC Auto Show, I managed to scrounge a few coupons from the Hooters table - 5 Free boneless wings, Free appetizer w/ purchase of a drink & BOGO entrees. Forget the autographed Hooters poster, gimme the food coupons dammit! Since Hooters is just a short ride east on Katella, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to redeem one, especially since I haven't been here, or any Hooters for that matter, in 6 years.
Arriving here, there were a few large parties, but the rest of the place was pretty empty. I waited for someone to seat me, but after awhile, I got tired of waiting and found a booth to sit in. Checking out the menu, I decided to use the coupon for 5 Free boneless wings. I read on a review to try the Daytona-style wings, so I went with that. My waitress asked me if I wanted breaded or naked? I asked, "What do you recommend?". She replied, "Breaded". Sounds good to me!
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock...
Ah, here's my wings.........WTH? These bad boys were tiny! The boneless wings were smaller than Chicken McNuggets. To add insult to injury, they were even breaded, too. If I ordered them naked, the boneless wings would have been even smaller. They did have good flavor, to Hooters credit. The Daytona-style sauce had enough heat to my liking w/o being overpowering. I loved the crisp celery stalks w/ the ranch.
Browsing the menu again, I see that 10 boneless wings are $8.99. So, my 5 wings would have the value of $4.50. Not worth it, IMHO. I know, I have to take into account that the price tag also involves the included T&A from the waitresses. My waitress was a cutie, too. I have to keep it real. However, I don't think I would ever dine at a Hooters again because I was thoroughly underwhelmed. I'd rather go to a nearby Wingstop, or better yet, fry wings at home when I'm hankering for some.
Several football games were on the tubes, the music was on blast (Andele! Andele! Mami, E.I., E.I., uh, oh!) and the crowd was pretty noisy.
