Hostel of the Sun

Via Melisurgo 15, Naples 80123 Italy
7 reviews

I loved staying at Hostel of the Sun. I like a bit of privacy so I booked my own room (with a balcony!) I got great advice on what to do from all the staff, who were incredible and maintained a fun calm atmosphere amid the comings and goings of travelers. Because of the social nature of breakfast and the ...

Pricey but excellent Neapolitan cuisine. And the decor is fun for the whole family.

Amazing. And if I go back, here's exactly how I'll do it... Walk up, grab a number, look up how to say that number in Italian on Google, wait forever, get 1 Normale (large) Margherita pizza with double cheese and a Coke.

    Pizzeria Di Matteo

The best pizza in town, you can find in at Di Matteo. Di Matteo is well-known for the best pizza even for the locals. Try their Pizza Margherita. That would be not only the best pizza in Naples, the best in the world. I've heard quite a few stories about Naples being expensive, but it's matter of if you find ...

Nice little pit stop for an espresso and pastry. Again the pastry selection is quite wide and very delicious.

This one, along with Michele's is one of the top 3 among the native neapolitans. Wide choice, cheap prices, very very good and fresh ingredients but just like the other two a very long line to get in. There are of course few others very good Pizzerias all over the city, able to make a remarkable and unforgettable pizza. Pizza ...

I've only had the pizza for the road, and it is a massive portion for just 1,50 euros. It's folded and wrapped so you can eat it on the go. It's basically a whole pizza in a portable form. Be sure to ask for it hot because, during the second visit, they gave me an unheated pizza. It was a ...

    Fantasia Gelati

Their ice cream is just so good!!!!!!!! There are plenty of flavors to choose, but all of them have that feel of authentic home made gelato. Amongst the most unique flavors they sell , you should definitely extra-dark chocolate, a really intense noir experience.

    Il Vero Bar del Professore

This is one of Naples´ "cult" bars where to get great coffee, particularly known for the eccellent "caffé alla nocciola", which basically is an express spiced up with an amazing hazel nut cream (that they produce themselves and also sell to the public). It´s funny how all the other bars in the square are trying to copy them with a ...

    Il Pizzaiolo Del Presidente

0.81 mi from Hostel of the Sun
    3 reviews

Sigh. I have reservations about recommending Del Presidente. You might never be able to eat normal pizza again. A visit from then-President Bill Clinton to nearby Di Matteo's inspired the pizzaiolo (pizza chef) at the time to open his own restaurant. Although both are gold standard-good, Del Presidente is swathed in Clinton memorabilia, an experience you won't get anywhere else. ...

After a while in Napoli I like having a switch of environment. This restaurant is my mekka when it comes to escaping the busy city life for a few hours. The food is extraordinary and the personnel is passionate and friendly. Highly recommended!

The BEST pizza I have ever had in my life! Since Naples is the birthplace of pizza I was expecting good, but this place blew me away! The freshest ingredients and the beauty of simplicity was perfect. I will never be able to properly enjoy pizza again because I will always compare it to this place! You must go!

If you can find this place it is well worth it. Ask a local Neopolitan. The following is from a blog of mine: Frederica was willing to take us out to a restaurant that she wanted to go to for a while and then give a tour of Naples in her car. The restaurant was in the Spanish Quarter and ...

    Gambrinus - (S.A.) Gran Caffe'

This is the real deal elegant Italian caffe. I just stopped in for gelato a couple of times, but really it's the place to go for elaborate desserts. Get yours and sit in the plaza and watch Naples and it's visitors walk by. It's got a grand history. In fact the building is portrayed in many of the old paintings ...

This restaurant has become one of our favorite spots whenever in Naples. The food selection is great, with nice "primi" and "antipasti" that stand out for the freshness of ingredients (particularly the mozzarella that is possible to order as a starter). The pizzas are not as good and inexpensive as the restaurants in the old center, but on the other ...
