This family-run hotel has a sweet and intimate feel. The gorgeous stained glass peacock at the entrance and the pretty wooden and metalwork elevator got me a little too excited about the aesthetic though, as then I was a bit disappointed when I arrived at my room. There was something sterile about the design—but the plus side is that it was incredibly clean. Everything you need is right there, so the charming son Alessandro makes up for anything décor that would be lacking. I also love this neighborhood full of small adorable shops.Recommended for:Family Travelers

The Hotel Artorius is a mid-range hotel, with friendly service and comfortable rooms, and its location in Monti means you can walk to wonderful restaurants and wine bars. A great base for a foodie tour of Rome.

Cute little family run hotel on a lovely street in Rome. It's got plenty of notices about tourist-y things to do around town, comfortable rooms that border on the luxurious, and a generally friendly energy about it. Absolutely a very decent place to hang your hat, and close to a few of my favourite wine bars.

The Hotel Artorius has become a really popular Roman hotel, and I can see why. It's run by a father and son team who are really sweet and accommodating, and who definitely satisfy the dream of mom and pop, unique, Italian boutique culture. Quirky little touches like a sign in the elevator that says it's "one of Rome's firsts elevators" are charming. Given that, the rooms feel a little disappointing...not too big, and with a vague intention of being luxurious but failing to really feel especially interesting. The terrace mostly made up for that, but overall I preferred the B&B they run on the floor above, to be honest, which was simpler but less pretentious and felt more authentic. Artorius is across the street from what is quite possibly my favorite wine bar in Rome, though, so I'm definitely not complaining.
