The Hotel Avante, located north of the Grant Rd exit off of 85 on El Camino, offers guests, and especially business travelers and nice refuge from the hustle bustle of the area. Upon entering the lobby, the service is prompt and friendly, and quick to point out some of the more attractive amenities of this hotel, such as the complimentary breakfast and the business center.
The rooms here are as standard as they come. Clean and well equipped, there is nothing to complain about these rooms except for the lighting. The room is quite dark, giving the room a slightly cavernous feel. Besides this however, the Hotel Avante is a plenty nice place for a business trip or longer leisure stay.Recommended for:Business Travelers

Without a car this hotel is not the best place to stay in The area - and getting food in the evening , means walking walking walking; There's a nice pooltable place on the other side of el camino real with pinball machines. The rooms aren't big, but they are nice. Wifi works pretty well. The pool is not heated , but is big enough to be swim-able. Breakfast is made in a tiny room and was ok.

I think this hotel is pretty pricey for what it is, but the rooms are very nicely decorated and the beds are pretty comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit on the small side, but the amenities are nice inside. It has that sense of faux luxury ... I didn't like that it was hard to find, the driveway into the hotel is extremely narrow and not well fitted for lowered cars.
Once inside, the parking is a little bit odd, the lobby is located far from the side rooms so you almost have to go in through one of the side doors. The way it is setup, it reminded me more of a motel than a hotel (motel being that the lobby is separate from the rooms, you don't have to walk through the lobby to get to the room).
I was surprised, though, to find that this place was technically Mountain View since I felt like I was in Sunnyvale. The whole Joie de Vivre part was lost on me because I have stayed at a few other Joie de Vivre's and they were far nicer ... perhaps because this is almost across the street from the El Camino hospital?
Overall, a cheap deal means this is a nice place to sleep, but location and amenities wise, it's not the most ideal.
