The arrival of this 'arts boutique' hotel opened in 2013 and occupying a gleaming white European-style mansion is the latest development in the gentrification of the surrounding Barranco neighbourhood. Its 17-rooms are generously proportioned and tastefully decorated with period furnishings and hand-picked contemporary works of art from the next door gallery. There's a relaxing central courtyard, separating the original building which dates from 1914 from the more contemporary annex; this is where breakfast is served in the mornings. During warmer months the rooftop sundeck is also a great spot for relaxing and watching the world below go by - mercifully this doesn't get too overcrowded as its set aside for use by hotel guests only. Although there's no pool, the hotel is just a block away from the ocean. Its in-house restaurant, presided over by Oscar Velarde (owner of the rather excellent La Gloria in Lima), is further evidence of Lima's reputation as one of the world's culinary capitals.
