Gorgeous plaza that is removed enough from the major sights to retain its charm. One of my two favorite plazas in the city.

It's a bit sad that my best meal in Rome thus far is a burger and beer. But let me tell you, Open Baladin is legit. I've tried a lot of burgers around the world and the Capri Burger here is one of the best I've had. The meat is juicy, the bread (made by Bonci of Pizzarium) is soft ...

Abbey Theater: The Roman Equivalent of Cheers -- except no one knows your name. Looking to for an authentic Roman bar? This isn't it. Looking to speak some English in an Irish-International setting. You're home. Ideal for the homesick english-speaker looking to catch a televised sporting event from the mother land. The food is pub-style delicious and the drinks are ...

I really like Fluid. It's got pretty lights, a nice spread for aperitivo and friendly bartenders. It's located a short walk away from Piazza Navona, so it's not hard to find. The downside is that it's a bit cramped inside (warm, for me), and the drink I had ran a bit on the sweet side. Still, it's not overpriced given ...

Of the several pubs I've been to in Centro Storico, this one is closer to the top. The free wireless Internet is a huge plus, as is the fact that it's large enough so that it doesn't ever feel crowded. I liked that there were more Italian people frequenting this place, rather than just a bunch of English speakers.

Draft Book is a great place for a drink near the Campo de' Fiori. Part bookstore and part bar, the classy interior is a stark contrast to the dinginess (albeit a fun dinginess) of the nearby piazza. An open window allows for seating with a view of the outside. Rum drinks start from 5 euros, and the place serves Belgian ...

I like this fountain more than Trevi. Not as large but it is much less crowded and more approachable. Gorgeous in every detail and not so crowded that you can't take an extra moment to really enjoy it.

We loved strolling through the Jewish Ghetto while in Rome. Yes, that's what it's officially called, and it's a term embraced by the residents. Ironically, it's becoming a more upscale part of Rome. Some great Kosher Roman restaurants here, some bistros, and the museum in the Temple here is worth a visit.

I know Torre and Largo Argentina more for a bus stop than anything else. After fruitlessly seeking an actual torre, I was informed by a Roman that it is long gone. Oh well. At least the Cat Sanctuary is there, a cat-tivating (sorry) attraction to enjoy the gelato you got from nearby Gelateria Corona or a slice from Pizzeria Florida.

This street is around one kilometer straight long. It was on the first urban projects of Renaissance in Rome. It was designed by Pope Julius II, and was meant to become the centre of offices and administrative power in Rome. Nowadays it is a very fascinating street, I would say a must see in Rome.

The big church in the heart of Piazza Navona involved both of Rome's great architects, Borromini and Bernini, as well as Girolamo Rainaldi and his son Carlo Rainaldi. The beautiful interior offers a great break from the hustle outside. Stand at the top of the church's steps and you'll get a great vantage point of the piazza itself.

The Arco degli Acetari (Vinegar-makers' Arch) sits inconspicuously along Via del Pellegrino, so much so that I missed it the first few times I tried looking for it. Campo de' Fiori sits nearby, and the bar Draft Book is just across the street. Step through the arches and you'll find the classic Roman square, often used as the subject for ...

I think i appreciate the Museo di Roma more than I actually like it. It's not exactly filled with interesting stuff, so the 9€ entrance fee seems a bit much. The museum features Roman history mostly revolving around the papal era, with only one room dedicated to ancient history. There is an interesting section on the construction of Piazza Navona, ...

Davanti ad uno dei teatri più importanti e antichi di Roma, il Teatro Argentina, e al centro di un incrocio stradale piuttosto trafficato, si apre un’area archeologica di recente scoperta ( 1920). Another day, another mind-blowingly majestic piece of architecture. That's how Rome rolls. Sant'Andrea della Valle sits squarely on the busy Corso Vittorio, facing down the traffic with its baroque facade. If you're feeling operatic, imagine yourself in the first act of Puccini's Tosca, which is set here.
