I don’t know how to describe this place other than delightful. It’s nice, but not pretentious. There’s incredible attention to detail, but it doesn’t feel sterile or museum-like. It’s in an old palace, but it feels fresh and new and airy. I’m partial to this hotel’s particular interpretation of Venetian style: lots of striped fabric on walls, opulent golds and reds in some rooms and blues and creams in others, little gold curlicues painted on ceiling beams… The breakfast room is spacious and airy with high ceilings and large windows letting in lots of light. Everything here feels like a luxurious spa retreat. I could easily and happily spend a week living in a double room, writing blog posts from the antique bed (using free wifi, of course) and taking breaks on the balcony overlooking the water. (Speaking of, I highly recommend asking for a canal-side room.)Recommended for:

This is a pretty sweet hotel just off a beautiful main piazza down a tiny little alley. The location makes you feel secluded, but you’re just a step away from the lively Venice action. The décor is what I would imagine to be traditional Venetian style, with a classic feel. Otherwise, the hotel was beautiful, if not enthralling. Except for the breakfast room, which was gorgeous, with a wall of windows letting light pour in. No better way to start the day! Overall, this felt like a really nice, really attractive, really classy, but ultimately unremarkable hotel. It isn’t quite my speed, but I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wanted a pretty, quiet, and (relatively) economical luxury hotel option in Venice.Recommended for:

Hotel Centauro is centrally located and very close to Plaza San Marco and Rialto Bridge. Its a good 3-star hotel by Venice standards. Rooms are not so big but than again any other comparable hotel for the price range, you are getting a good deal. Venice is expensive tourist town and for a budget traveller to Venice like me, this was a good place to stay.
