My best friend and I stayed here 10 years ago on our first trip to Italy, and I went back five years later, and it was still perfect. Sure, there are a few steps, but it's quiet (much appreciated in Rome), a great value for the money, and has a rooftop garden next to the shared kitchen. It's across from most of the action of downtown on the Vatican side, but an easy bus ride or walk into town.

A few steps from one of Prati’s busiest shopping streets, it was nice to be immediately greeted by so much color and kindness as soon as I walked in! This 23-room, 2-star hotel occupies 3 floors in a beautiful classic free-standing building, but don’t let the dark old exterior of the building fool you...every room of this hotel is splashed with vivid colors, modern decoration and personality while highlighting all the original interior details of the building like high ceilings and wall art!
The rooms are surprisingly big with comfy beds, desks and TV. The dining area offers a beautiful balcony seating area for two overlooking a typical Roman courtyard and indoor seating for larger groups. Enjoying your breakfast (included) in this clean and colorful ambiance is a wonderful way to energize for your day as a tourist in one of the world’s liveliest cities!
So if you’re looking for a clean, quiet hotel close to all of Rome’s wonderful sights on a budget, this is the place for you!

I have to admit I was a little dubious about this hotel as I walked up to it. It was hard to find since the sign was kind of small, but it is located squarely on the corner of Via Boezio and Via Torenzio. I loved the colors of the corridors, and it really brightened the place up and helped you to relax after the 'stress' of being out in the city all day. They have budget rooms with shared bathroom or larger rooms with the bathroom ensuite which are larger, air-conditioned and quite comfortable. There is no elevator in the building so if stairs are a problem for you, this might not be the best hotel. Despite the exterior, the hotel is well taken care of, clean and very comfortable. The staff are very nice and accommodating, too!

My first trip to Rome was a whirlwind experience with a very cold 48 hours to experience the city. I wasn't planning on spending a lot of time in a hotel since the priority was to be out getting lost in narrow alleys, gawking at ruins, and fulfilling my quest for the perfect cup of Italian coffee. Colors was an absolute delight at the end of a long day. Large rooms, stylish decor, high ceilings, comfortable beds, and an extremely helpful staff made coming back to rest a pleasure after a very long day (and night) of spontaneous wandering. There is no elevator so you do have to do some stairs, the breakfast was good but the room where it's served is very small, and internet access is limited. Reasonably priced, and a short walk from the sights and some decent shopping, Colors has my business the next time I return to Rome.
