The Hotel des Carmes is not the prettiest, most comfortable place to stay: the décor is on the budget, generic side and the rooms are somewhat frumpy.
However, the location is really unbeatable: right in the heart of the latin quarter, literally down the street from the Pantheon, and surrounded by quaint little restaurants and nightlife. The location becomes even moreof a draw when one considers the very reasonable rates.Recommended for:

Very basic hotel, but the rooms are affordable and the location is quite perfect for sightseeing. There is Pantheon, St. Michel, Jardin du Luxembourg and Notre Dame within walking distance. The area is also great for going out, as there are lots of little bars in this neighborhood. Metro Maubert-Mutualite is very close by, so it's easy to hop on metro to see other areas.
I wasn't that impressed with the hotel itself, but I guess with just over 100 euros you can't expect much in Paris. The overall feeling is a bit drab and I'd only recommend this for someone who is not fussy about their surroundings and would only use it for sleeping after day out in Paris.Recommended for:

This two star hotel is nothing to write home about but due to its central location it might appeal to those simply looking for a place to rest their head at night.
The staff is friendly enough and the price is reasonable (starting at around 100 Euros/night) but other than that there isn’t anything too special about this place. Once you get to your room you realize that you have just the basics of a bed with a colorful but dreary duvet, a chair, a table and a single framed art print hanging on the otherwise bare wall.
There are grocery stores and restaurants in the area and it is only a short walk away from the Pantheon, Notre-Dame Cathedral and Saint Germain and it is right by the Maubert–Mutualité métro stop.Recommended for:

A good option of a cheap (if you compare with the parisian prices) hotel in Paris. Good location.
When I been there I paid around 100 euros for the room. The breakfast is not worth it, so I recommend to book it without a breakfast (any good boulangerie has a better breakfast for the same price). Book in advance, depending of the season all the hotels in Paris gets so full.
