This hotel is a bit on the older side so it has, unfortunately, a slightly dingy feel. It didn’t have that totally hyper-clean sterile feeling, but then on the other hand it wasn’t the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. That said, the people at the desk were super sweet and genuine. There was a homey sense to the room. Dinner at the restaurant is good but a tad pricey.Recommended for:Family Travelers

I loved the location of the Hotel Diana. It's very close to Termini and Monti, one of my favorite 'hoods. The place itself is molto elegante - red wallpaper, wood floors, welcoming service and a generally luxurious feeling. For Rome, it's a modern place, built in 1939, but to an Americana like me it feels cool and a little retro. If you're one to pack loads of things (I'm not, but know I'm in the minority), the closets are giant. The crowning glory is the roof terrace, where you can chill out and check out the rooftops of Rome while sipping a something. I saw lots of other Americans there, which may or may not be to your vacation liking. It definitely doesn't feel like a mass market tour place, though - the Hotel Diana is special just like the Roman goddess.

Brilliant hotel and really good value for money.
We got a fantastic room with private balcony without paying anything extra. Roof Garden restaurant is one of the most romantic ones I've been to. The food was average but it's not really the point. The roof garden restaurant is also where you they do breakfasts - loved it!
There are no particularly exciting views from the hotel but since the hotel is just few hundred meters away from train station and a short walk away (15-20mins) from many attractions we didn't really need the views.
