Right opposite Il Viminale - the ministry of defence, there is no doubt you will feel very secure! lots of nice men in uniform… it’s really close to Termini station so convenient when you have to leave for the airport. Some places may be too far to walk to like the Vatican, but they are easily reachable by public transport and the staff is so friendly and helpful you can ask them anything! The decor was nothing to write home about but it was comfortable and enjoyable and good value for money considering the location. there is no communal space to hang out in, but there is no need for it when you have the whole city to hang out in with its endless choice of bars.Recommended for:

Touristy three star hotel in piazza Viminale, rather busy and noisy with traffic. Rooms are situated on various floors of the building with a small breakfast room serving continental breakfast. A small communal room with TV and cool drinks available. The rooms aren't the most stylish but tidy and clean. Very close to all the interesting sites of Rome, shopping areas and round the corner from the teatro dell’opera. in only 10 minutes you can reach Termini station by foot.Recommended for:

Perhaps my favorite thing about the Hotel Dorica was the fellow behind the front desk. His name is Marco and he is just a super friendly wonderful guy. In Italy it is not the easiest thing to find truly hospitable service, even at high end hotels, so the Hotel Dorica really has this advantage over others. The hotel is not designy at all (what is with those strange native American prints in the lobby?) and the room was not particularly pretty, but the location was great right on the piazza and the price is right.Recommended for:

The best thing about the Hotel Dorica is the staff. Marco, who greets you on arrival, speaks very fluent English and is friendly, relaxed, and funny. It's very clean, as is common in Italy (a friend and I used to joke that Italians' closets looked like the Gap, everything was so tidy and perfectly folded) and although the rooms are simple, it's a comfortable place to sleep. Breakfast is pretty standard, with cereal, yogurt, coffee and the like, but it's included in the very low room price and hey, the morning after a three course Roman dinner complete with wine and digestivi, I'm never looking for a real bacon and egg style fry-up anyway. The location is also good, within walking distance to some sights and a stone's throw from Monti, a great eating and drinking 'hood.Recommended for:
