I was underwhelmed by the reception area, but once I got past that, the rest of the hotel held one pleasant surprise after another. The lobby level lounging rooms are decorated with an eclectic array of Turkish décor collected by the original owner, Mr. Fehmi himself. The wooden floors, and Turkish rugs lining the halls added to the charm. The room was tasteful and comfortable, modern and clean, with a view looking out over the rooftops to the Marmara Sea, and the tub was perfect for soaking away the long days of exploration. The real gem, literally topping it off, was the rooftop terrace, with views of the Blue Mosque or the Marmara Sea, where breakfast is served and they offer tea any time of day.

This peaceful no-frills hotel is an easy walk from old Istanbul's main attractions. Every morning I would enjoy my breakfast on the roof, either indoors out of the sun, or out in the open air. When I had a medical crisis mid-stay, the hotel staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and understanding. As I healed I could go out for little forays into the confetti life of Istanbul, and then retreat into my comfy room at the Fehmi Bey.

I quite enjoyed visiting this family run hotel! It is perfectly located, just minutes away from some of Istanbul's most famous sites (Haghia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, etc). The streets near the hotel are lined with small family owned carpet and textile shops. It is a nice break from all the big overpriced stores catering to tourists. The lobby is simple and inviting. I loved the cozy and family atmosphere! The rooms are very comfortable and remind me of a guest bedroom! I really liked how friendly and warm the staff was. The rooftop terrace is fabulous and overlooks the Blue Mosque, the Haghia Sophia, and the Marmara Sea! A sunset dinner here would be perfect!
