The rooftop bar at the Gansevoort has really amazing views of the city, and while chic, is not stuffy. It's got a pool and restaurant, too. Definitely a luxurious New York experience.

Super trendy meatpacking hotel, with a smaller rooftop, but view right down into the exclusive Soho House pool, the gansevoort is the chic downtown hotel you are looking for.

Definitely the place to stay if you want to be in the hip center of Manhattan's meat packing district. Views are stellar, as is the rooftop bar. Book early if you want to stay during busy times, especially Fashion Week.

A little clubbed out with the meat packing district bridge and tunnel crowd on weekends, but overal a cool building. They have a huge pool on their roof!

Fabulous hotel - oh so New York. Love this hotel and got to stay for two nights during fashion week a while back. Check in was amazing and the room was so minimal it was breathtaking! I could have skipped a show and sat in the lobby to observe all the beautiful, young and chic people who were visiting the Gansevoort.

meatpack area, although its big hotel still feels like boutique... rooms are well design, go for the highest floor and a river view, dont miss the bar and skip the restaurants.

The Hotel Gansevoort has definitely made a name for itself in New York City. It's trendy and chic, and the club upstairs is always a fun place to spend the night.

I love this hotel but it was getting crazy expensive as the only decent hotel in the area (before the Standard opened). The best part of this hotel is most certainly the roof-top bar and pool area. We have spent many a hot summer Manhattan night drinking cocktails by that pool laughing at the size of Tori Spelling's boobs and the other B Grade celebs who like to be seen at this place.

Description:

The hotels 187 spacious guest rooms and 23 stylish suites, many with seating nooks in bay windows, stepout balconies, stunning Manhattan and city views and Hudson river vistas, offer downtown chic infused with uptown luxury. Sophisticated and minimalist guestrooms feature a color palette of neutrals and grays with a shot of blackberry. A lavish use of leather and fabric in the headboard armoire and wall covering offers a rich contemporary feel. Dramatic sheets of back-lit translucent glass in muted colors take the place of conventional doors. Bathrooms offer striking design contrasts with sheathed richly textured walls, ceramic interiors, custom designed stainless steel Gansevoort sinks and Carrara marble. Hotel Gansevoort provides complimentary wi-fi throughout the hotel, complimentary business center and Gansevoort Spa, a 4300 sq ft full service spa which can serve as an exclusive private event space where red-glass treatment rooms transform into private alcoves.
