This luxury hotel is family-owned and operated, and it feels like it – even if that family is ridiculously wealthy and has impeccable taste (there’s a huge glass sculpture made by one of Venice’s most famous artists right in the entry to the lobby). In fact, the whole point of the hotel is to make guests feel like they’re being invited into a home, and it seems visitors become regular visitors. I loved the robin’s egg blue tile in the bathroom and the canopy bed. It would have been nice if there were wi-fi in the room, but at least there was free wi-fi downstairs. Perhaps the best part, though, is an intimate billiard room that makes me want to don a man’s suit and drink scotch and smoke cigars (I probably couldn’t do the latter inside, but still…) Or maybe it’s the breakfast room, whose white tablecloths and chairs tied with green bows makes it feel like a brunch party for a Southern debutante… Or maybe it’s the courtyard with its fountain and tons of flowering plants…

Just 30 seconds away from the main drag, this hotel feels much more secluded once you're inside. To me it has a distinctly traditional feel, from the ever-present Murano glass chandeliers to every piece of beautiful furniture with that undeniable Venetian style. It's such a nice hotel I felt like I aught to be careful to make sure everything was exactly where I left it, like in my grandmother's house. My two favorite amenities were the billiards table, which provided a great evening activity when the rest of the entirety of Venice shuts down, and the outdoor patio with a fountain, sun terrace, and ivy-covered walls. The room was just as beautiful as the rest of the spaces, and really made me feel like I was getting the full Venice experience. There's something about staying in a room, that is styled like those they have here, that gives you a sense of timelessness. Overall, though I didn't exactly feel homey here, I thought this was a lovely place.

No, we didn't stay on the Grand Canal but after staying at this hotel we had not a single regret. This hotel is tucked away from the noise and craziness and provides all the comforts of home. A warm and helpful staff that is eager to please and point you in the right direction to all the sights and where to find the perfect pizza.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
