This hotel’s bright orange and lime green façade really stands out! Inside the concept is ecological and urban design where small spaces are utilized to the max. The bright colors used in this hotel give it a young and fun feel. The main floor is full of wooden benches in raised cubicle-like enclosures and downstairs is the open plan breakfast room with wooden chairs and shelves giving it a workspace meets picnic feel. The rooms are what you’d expect to see in a Danish design magazine.
I would definitely recommend this to wellness and green travelers as there is also an organic breakfast served every morning along with fruit juices available in the vending machines. The street itself is very trendy with an organic produce market, bagel café, restaurants and designer boutiques. It is close to the Bastille métro station which quickly connects you to the rest of Paris.

This is a super quirky and affordable hotel for young people. Situated in Charonne, in a very trendy neighborhood that's perfect for scouting independent designer boutiques, organic stores, little cafés and bars.
The rooms are modular with fixed furniture in wood that reminds me of IKEA. The hotel is ecologically themed, they serve organic breakfast and aesthetically it looks very contemporary and colorful. The ecological theme has been taken one step forward and they actually use water reducing taps, energy saving lightning, recycled and natural materials etc. Overall it's a cool concept, and it stands out from the traditional hotels in Paris.

Whoa. Call me impressed.
Ignore the fully organic breakfast and the fact that this is one of Paris' leading Hotels in sustainability.
Exclude the neighborhood, which is both extremely trendy and central (steps away from the Place de la Bastille).
Forget about the fact that the hotel is very popular with the fashion and design crowd.
Pay no attention to all of this, and you still have a establishment worth staying in, that is an experience of its own. The ultra-modern and colorful rooms are "cabin-themed" which can mean anything from a secret room within a room, to a separate bed hidden high in the wall. The rooms also offer interesting perks such as iPod docks, and the lobby has vending machines that sell all the things you forgot to pack and interesting juices to boot.
Apart from being a stark anti-modernist, I cannot think of any reason not to stay here.

Paris is a cutting-edge modern city—vibrant, youthful and teeming with life. On the path to discovering this side of Paris, I started at the HI-Matic hotel, located in the heart of the famously hip Bastille district. A smartly designed, staunchly green hotel, the HI-Matic playfully takes on the idea of the retro auto-mat, with a lobby and café outfitted with snacks and other essentials in appropriately designed, automated vending machines. Expanding on this modular aesthetic, the rooms are highly efficient while maintaining comfort and style.
New Yorkers like me won’t balk at the relatively small quarters, but will appreciate the clean lines of design and the masterful use of space. Likewise, New Yorkers will enjoy the Parisian take on an organic (or “biologic” as they say in France) breakfast that is served every morning in the cheerful canteen, complete with an automated “bottomless” café au lait machine.
Terrifically affordable, well located and full of eco integrity, HI-Matic Hotel makes a great start to your modern Parisian adventures.
