Upon entering, the first thing that I noticed about this hotel was just how much it resembled a hotel from Miami. The medley of whites, blues, and greens screams south Florida—which could be a good thing. Chicago in the winter is noticeably bereft of vivid colors. The second thing I noticed is the smell, which is a very pleasant mixture of suntan lotion and coconut. It’s quite calming.
Though some visitors may deem the décor to be outdated, I enjoyed all the colors. I especially liked the green carpeting found inside the room, which looked like Astroturf and really added a warm touch to the space. It made the small hangout-area in the room feel worthy of hanging out in. As a bonus, the hotel is green-friendly.Recommended for:

Hotel Indigo's decor is a little kitschy for my taste, but I really liked the space despite it. The rooms are so welcoming; it's the kind of place you'd want to stay at if you planned to spend some time in the room hanging out, reading, relaxing. It's also a really great location. Gold Coast is a beautiful neighborhood, and it's a short walk to Rush Street, the Mag Mile, the lake.Recommended for:

Walking into the Hotel Indigo is like escaping to a beautiful beachside cottage. White wooden chairs with seashell armrests instantly make you feel relaxed and at ease. The lobby pops out in bright greens, turquoises and blues, while the ceiling is painted to resemble clear, blue skies A small bar sits to the right side and guests can enjoy the full 1244 Bar.Recommended for:

Hotel Indigo is like a beach in the middle of the city, even though there is another beach that is actually a real beach within walking distance. It’s a boutique hotel, which means that everything is stylish, and that there wall murals all over the place, and everything is very well designed. Everything is light, bright, and feels very cottage-y, like you’re at the beach. The hotel is actually almost a hundred years old, but they change and update things so often, you’d barely know it if the original owner’s name weren’t etched into the front of the building. This is a pet friendly hotel, and they do a deep clean after a pet leaves a room. The whole hotel fits very well into the neighborhood it resides in, which isn’t called the Gold Coast because everyone is so stingy and simple.
