The Hotel Krupa is the right place if you want to stay in town a while, and don’t want anything more out of your hotel than a place to fall asleep and take a shower. They have weekly rates, shared bathrooms, not much at all in the way of decoration, and *very* spare furniture, but the rooms do have mini-refrigerators and microwaves (which will help you stay cheaply, as will the relatively cheap ethnic restaurants in the nearby Tenderloin). They’re also brightly painted, have big windows that let the light in, and seem pretty spotless. And despite the frill-free aspect, it feels pretty safe, since you come and go under the watchful eye of the staff (and pass by the hotel rules), who you get the sense will not stand for anything they disapprove of.

Hotel Krupa is a convenient budget-friendly no-frills hotel located close to downtown shopping, Union Square, and many local eateries. You can easily hop on a bus to get to any part of town. Just remember to not expect 5 star service from the front desk staff. They are curt, but informative. Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout the hotel, and the building is a bit on the older side. It reminded me of walking into an old apartment building. Shared bathrooms and showers are available on each floor -- they looked clean. Each guestroom does have a sink, television, microwave, mini fridge, and iron. Some rooms looked older, while some looked recently renovated, but everything looks like they're maintained in good condition. The downstairs front door area smelled of bleach/cleaner.
