The rooms at Hotel Lincoln are small, but I think that's a tiny, tiny problem considering all it's got going. It's in a great location, just steps away from the zoo and the lake, and it has incredible views. The decor is warm and eye catching, with lots of interesting details (I love the drawer pulls on the check-in desk). There's free wifi throughout the hotel, a coffee shop in the lobby that opens daily at 6:30 am. The restaurant on the ground floor has a Michelin starred chef and is rated in the top 15 brunch spots in Chicago, while the rooftop restaurant is open for dinner year round and overlooks the lake. There was really nothing not to like here.

Considering its size and location, it’s surprising that Hotel Lincoln still feels like a boutique hotel. Its amenities rival that of downtown hotels, but I thought this spot felt pretty bustle-free. There’s a downstairs café, and visitors can enjoy elegant dining inside the building at Perennial Virant. In the warmer months, the J. Parker rooftop lounge offers fancy cocktails and beautiful views of the lake. Fun fact: the J. Parker is named after President Lincoln’s bodyguard—the one that went out for a drink on his shift when Lincoln was assassinated.

I think the biggest draw of this hotel is the fact that it’s located across the street from Lincoln Park. I can imagine waking up in the morning, looking out on the lake, grabbing a coffee at the café downstairs, and taking a stroll through the park. The free, year-round Lincoln Park Zoo is two skips away, and wintertime visitors can also stroll to the steamy, jungle-like Lincoln Park Conservatory.

A nice hotel located between downtown and Boys town was host to my wife an I New Years eve night. The rooms are average in size but are nice. We would not have gone due to the price if not for a Groupon we used.

Maybe you don't want to stay in the thick of downtown or can't find a room... Hotel Lincoln is a good solution for you because it is just a short cab or train ride from The Loop and just steps away from Lincoln Park Zoo. The staff here tries harder- and that's solid gold in my book.

Loved this funky cool JDV hotel in Lincoln Park! The rooms can be on the small side but they're cozy and nicely appointed. Their newly opened rooftop bar, The J. Parker, has one of the best views in all of Chicago. I didn't get a chance to try their highly acclaimed restaurant, Perennial Virant or their coffee shop, but I did get to rent one of their bikes to cruise along the lake. They also have pedicabs in the afternoon that will take you to a nearby destination. Also, they're pet friendly and have free wifi!

Another cute JDV hotel that is also pet friendly! There is a restaurant and coffee shop as well. Great location next to Lincoln Park. Everything else is a short bus ride away.
