Found this Kimpton hotel online and was pleasantly surprised. We got upgraded to a room with an exercise book complete with a bike and separate tv and yoga mats. The street is clean, safe, and within walking distance of DuPont Circle. There's also a daily free wine bar from 5-6pm! Would definitely recommend to friends and family.Recommended for:

I felt like I needed to be a hipster at the Hotel Madera. The hotel is located between Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom and it’s definitely a scene. The restaurant Firefly is next door and it’s very popular. The hotel has a few rooms with small patios, but the rooms aren’t large. I would recommend this hotel to young professionals, but it’s not a family hotel. The décor is modern and busy. The restaurant Firefly has great food and known for their mocktail menu.Recommended for:

This hotel has a nice vibe. Jazz music is playing softly as you enter. The hotel offers bike loaners if you want to cruise the neighborhood. There is a trendy restaurant and bar, Firefly, that is popular with locals. The rooms facing New Hampshire Avenue have balconies, but the rooms facing the back have a better view. While there is no gym or pool, you have access to both at another hotel a few blocks away.Recommended for:

You would never guess from the size of the tiny lobby that the rooms here would be so huge! They fit in two queen beds, a sofa, two chairs and a table and there’s still room to do a cartwheel! The bellhop told me the building used to be apartments and they weren’t able to move a lot of walls – lucky for us!
The restaurant, the Firefly, has some fans, but a lot of people agree that if you’re going to eat here, plan for a big chunk of time – service is not quick. You could always just have a drink, though – people love the atmosphere and that cool tree with the swing. And since Madera’s a Kimpton hotel, they host a free wine hour every night, plus they offer two drinks for $1 for every night you stay. And if you want to try a different restaurant, you’re close enough to Dupont Circle to walk, if you still can after those free drinks ...Recommended for:
