Great, almost hostel-like prices at the Hotel Maubeugue! And for this kind of price range, it is surprising that the place is clean and even quite esthetically appealing, with its bright colors and modern décor. Sure, it’s probably not the highest level of comfort you’ll find in Paris, and the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired, but Hotel Maubeugue is quite practical, as it is located right next to Gare du Nord, and a great deal.Recommended for:

This is a very affordable hotel just off the Gare du Nord. I'd only consider this place, if I came into town by train, and needed a cheap room. It's not very comfortable for longer stay, as it feels a bit neglected. The lobby is quite tacky to be honest, and the dim lighting didn't help, it felt more like an entrance to a cheap disco than a hotel. The staff didn't speak much English, which was a disappointment.
The neighborhood is busy, but sketchy in the nighttime, but at least the metro is nearby so you can get anywhere else in the city very quickly. There are also lots of places to get breakfast if you choose not to take it at the hotel.Recommended for:

This two star hotel is located on a busy street near Gare du Nord which makes it convenient for those arriving by train or from Roissy CDG Airport. It is not the nicest part of town, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby and the metro line can take you anywhere you want to go.
The rooms are basic with a rather tacky décor that includes a swirly gold colored headboard, replica framed prints on the walls and bursts of red coming from the curtains, desk and chair. The bathrooms are pretty tiny and the shower even smaller! The breakfast area is the nicest part of the hotel but I would probably go elsewhere to eat. You can find double rooms for 65 Euros/night on their website, so if you just need a place to rest your head near Gare du Nord then it might be worth a try.Recommended for:

The hotel looked as if it was in the midst of a remodel but upon further inspection, I'd say it was more of just poor upkeep. Carpet just laying on top of the subfloor, etc. was a common site. The room wasn't too bad but the bathroom was so tiny, it was nearly impossible to use. Sitting on the toilet was a definite challenge and just getting in and out of the bathroom was quite the endeavor. I realize it's an old building and so I could get past the miniature bathroom size but that on top of it smelling like raw sewage was too much for me. I would NOT recommend this place. It was on the cheaper side for Paris, but even at the price we paid, I expected a lot more.
