The Hotel must have the biggest bougainvillea flower tree in the Universe hanging from top to bottom of the entire hotel! Beautiful! It’s an old building with small spaces everywhere and small rooms but newly renovated to look simple and clean but nothing fancy or design oriented. I had to look past the 6 foot replica of an ancient greek statue in the reception to appreciate the simplicity, cleanliness and very comfy bed with an awesome view of the Acropolis. It’s too bad the roof top breakfast area is small and not pleasing to hang out because the view from it is really great. Its location is prime. It’s just around the corner from Ermou st., across the street is the main church Metropolis and Plaka. The room's balcony was also nice to hangout on and watch the night life walk by.

Ok, let me start out by saying that this if you are looking for an all-amenities-included spa hotel, go elsewhere. That said, if you are looking for a clean, well-kept budget hotel in downtown Athens, close to Syntagma, Ermou and other attractions, then consider the Metropolis. The rooms are small and basic, but with all you need for a comfortable place to lay your head, and small balcony areas to get some fresh air. The included breakfast is served on the small rooftop - pretty tight quarters, but looking out towards the Acropolis and the Metropolis Cathedral (it was under construction when we were there). Another nice perk was the free WiFi service. This is a no-frills attached hotel, but for the price, the location and quality make it a great deal.

Ideal location right next to the Plaka and just a block from the main square on a narrow, quiet street. The building is narrow and covered with bouganvilla vine. There is no lobby, just a check-in desk and a couple of chairs and then the elevator which is old and tiny. My single room was large with a patio type balcony, huge bathroom and stunning view of the acropolis. Extremely convenient to everything, great value and you cant miss it for the life size statue of a biker in the street level window. I walked everywhere from this place, never took a cab or public transportation anywhere, even to the acropolis itself. Would stay again absolutely. Narrowed my researched to 18 hotels before choising this one
