Recently renovated, Hotel Newton still retains a certain old-world charm. Located in a building that's been around since 1900, this hotel feels very cozy and quaint. Though the lobby looks modern and luxurious enough, the rooms have a very matronly décor. They're outfitted with hardwood desks and drawers, maroon-colored carpeting, and coral and gold-toned drapes and linens. It certainly feels homey, but the ambiance is definitely not modern and hip. This would be a great place for families, because it's in a great, residential area and it's close to the Museum of Natural History and the Manhattan Children's Museum. For young adults, though, the location and the décor may not be very appealing.

This hotel hasn’t given up on floral bedding or drapery yet. This is not the place to go if you’re looking to stay someone hip and modern but if you’re looking for a warm and cozy vibe, I would recommend this hotel. It does feel a bit like a home away from home especially since some suites come with kitchenettes, mini-fridges, microwaves and coffee & tea makers so you could prepare a whole meal in your room.

Unfortunately there aren’t in-room safes so if you want, you can leave things in the safe in the lobby – the front desk personnel are more than happy to keep things for their guests. They can also help with getting a ride in a shuttle to the airport. Wifi is also available with a charge.

In the heart of the Upper West Side, sandwiched between several tasty eateries, Hotel Newton is a great find for those who want to save some money but not miss out on an of the uptown action. The property certainly has a vintage feel to it, but the renovations and updates to rooms make it feel spacious and cozy without feeling old. Flatscreen TVs adorn the walls in every guest room, and computers are available in the lobby for any guests who desire to use them (wifi on personal computers comes with a fee). Some rooms have kitchenettes for cooking, which could save on money and time, but with the wide variety of delis and groceries nearby, the money may be better spent venturing out of the cozy room and onto a city block for more adventure!

We really liked this hotel which may be due to the fact that we paid only about 150 Euro per person for 4 nights if my memory is right.
From todays point of view I would likely rate it lower but at that time this hotel was just the best that could have happened to us. The room was good and featured everything needed expect breakfast. Its location is not the best, but it is quite quiet – what I believe is not usual in NYC.

For me the perfect choice for a holiday after finishing secondary school.
