If only the outside of Hotel Ocean were as romantic as the inside. The courtyard and exterior feels like a Mediterranean Villa but the inside definitely needs a facelift. The rooms are spacious and stylish but I was distracted by the strong musty smell. Also, Ocean Drive seems like a good location in the center of the action, but the restaurants are very overpriced and not that good. It is nice being right on the beach, but the windows are small and there isn't much of a view. The price is ok, but it was a little inconvenient to have to go to Breakwater to use the pool. But it includes breakfast, bikes, and beach lounge chairs/umbrellas. The staff was very friendly too, but at night it gets a little crazy. If you want to be in the center of the action and not pay too much, then this might fit the bill.Recommended for:Outdoor Enthusiasts

The thing I like about the Hotel Ocean is that it feels like a Mediterranean villa more than a Miami beachfront hotel. Also nice are the complimentary bikes and the adjacent Bella Roma restaurant, of which I can do without the Ocean Drive-front food, but the interior bar is very nice. Aside from this, the place is noisy, claustrophobic and low in amenities, WiFi only in the lobby and your lobby is a dive?? I don't think so... And the lack of a pool is really the clincher for me. There are plenty of comparatively-priced hotels in this town with fantastic pool areas. But they're not all on Ocean Drive... So, if your thing is to be in the heart of the action, not pay outrageously, and not get much either, this might be an option for you... Or, here's an idea Hotel Ocean - make your hotel look like a luxury Mediterranean villa on the inside too, and you might have something going on...

Expecting to get a good night’s sleep at a hotel on Ocean Drive may be like wishing for peace and quiet in Times Square. It’s not going to happen. When I stayed here, the live band in the courtyard made sleeping before the wee hours of the morning impossible. But if you’re looking to stay in the midst of the action, across from the beach, and don’t need high design, perhaps you won’t mind some noise. I liked the wet-bar and mini-fridge but my biggest problem here was the lack of WiFi—or even plugged-in Internet access—in my room. There was free WiFi in the lobby but it’s small and not really set up for working on your laptop. There’s an Italian restaurant, Mia Bella Roma, on site but I tried to avoid it—like most Ocean Drive restaurants, the food is pedestrian and overpriced.
