Don't be fooled by this place calling itself a boutique hotel. Really, it's an overpriced assemblage of converted motels. True, the oceanfront setting is awesome, right across the street from West Beach and a short walk from the pier. But the rooms kind of look like putting lipstick on a big -- bare-bones older motel rooms with some halfhearted sprucing up. Our door didn't even close properly, and the walls and halls are really noisy. We'll only ever be back if we get a Priceline deal of less than $65/night.

OCEAN VIEW IS GORGEOUS... but umm. WHAT'S UP WITH YOUR PARKING?!
Hotel Oceana was RIGHT across the beach, which I thought was pretty awesome.
Lobby was cute and felt real homey.
The continental, complimentary breakfast wasn't that bad. It consisted of fruit, oatmeal, pastries, coffee, juice, and yogurt. But to get an omelette, you have to pay an extra $5.
The rooms were pretty darn small. Thank goodness I was only there for a weekend. But at least it was decorated with bright colors that fit my personality. Although, they didn't have a long, tall mirror. How am I going to check myself out?!
Parking.. well that's another story. There are various small parking lots around this hotel. I went out on a Saturday night and came back late around 1-2am and could not find a parking spot after circling around 2-3 times. "Umm.. I paid $10 for parking! If I can't have a parking spot then I want a refund!" After the 3rd go around I called the front desk and the manager told me to come to the front desk and they'll help me find parking. The night shift manager called security and said there was a handicap parking spot I can park in that is on the hotel PRIVATE parking. AKA, the police don't have the right to ticket me for not having a handicap sign. Before I parked, I asked the manager several times for reassurance that nothing will happen to me. Because a handicap ticket is like $500!
Sooo.. nothing happened, which was good. But I definitely didn't like having to park in that handicap spot without a sign. And despite getting that spot, I still didn't like having to circle around in the middle of the night for a parking spot I PAID for.
But since they gave me a good breakfast and service was good.. plus I liked being right by the beach, I can't give this place less than 3 stars.

Completely agree with Sara on this one. It's a "hotel" in name only - completely feels like a motel. Yes, the location is superb but realize it's a motel atmosphere before deciding to come here or not. The only other perk is that it's pretty close to Sambo's.
