From the outside, I did not like the Hotel Ocho - it looked like any other boring old office building in the area. I was proven wrong when I entered the place though! The lobby is very stylish though not overly decorative, with tons of exposed brick/duct work, industrial wood and stylish lighting.

I love the hard loft look of each room! The bathrooms are minimalist and modern (marble square sinks and table tops, square bathtub). The rooms are sun-filled, with bare-brick walls, mod furniture and paintings, and a large & comfy bed dropped into the middle of the room.

The location is also a real plus, as the Hotel Ocho is located within walking distance to Queen West, the Eaton Centre and the CN Tower/Air Canada Centre/Rogers Centre area. There is even a Bixi-Bike share station just outside the building for convenient travel!

The owner also seemed very nice & friendly, and is quick to make suggestions about places to visit and things to do!

This boutique hotel is fairly new - only a year old - and I'll admit that I've passed it a hundred times without really knowing what it was. I'm glad I decided to check it out, because it is absolutely cool and modern, in the best sense of the word. There is nary a shiny black or white surface to be found, but instead the Ocho Hotel is a converted loft-like space in warm wood tones that's incredibly inviting. There's a large bar and restaurant area on the main floor, and upstairs from the lobby is a lovely event space that would be perfect for a small wedding or private party. The rooms are on the smaller side, but are stylish and updated, with brick walls, large tubs and the beds placed in the middle of the room - a different way to utlilize the space. It feels like you're in an art gallery, and that aesthetic works perfectly with it's location in the design district, just north of Queen. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable, and there is just generally a positive vibe flowing throughout the entire hotel.
