- Hotel OrlyOct 25, 2013
We arrived just when all the other guests did, so the staff seemed a little harried, though friendly enough. They were so full they had to put this one older couple in a room with two single beds rather than a double, and I overheard the porter try to convince them that they were lucky because having two beds is “more old-fashioned and romantic.” I give him points for positivity, though I'm not sure the couple saw it that way. When we did get to a room – carried by an elevator so tiny that it's maxed out by two people plus luggage – it was small but clean, with an AC, a flat-screen TV and tasteful art. There are a couple of computers you can use in the hall. Guests are invited to eat their buffet breakfast (included) out on a simple but pretty little patio, complete with fresh daisies on every table. All in all, if what you're looking for is a nice, clean hotel in an ideal location, this will work just fine.

I think I expected something else from hotel Orly upon entering than what is really there. Everything felt narrow and cramped. Chile’s older construction leans to the small and diminutive but I think they went too far at the Orly. We tried to get 3 in the elevator and there was nothing doing. The hall ways, bedrooms, and public spaces all felt like the furniture was too plentiful and over-sized. For the price I felt the decor was of cheap quality. I don’t think there was any real forethought in design or feel of the hotel. The staff were friendly but seemed overworked and unorganized. I spoke with a couple from Seattle that felt their stay was fine and I agreed because the Orly is centrally located, and perhaps at capacity most of the year they have no incentive to charm or impress, too bad for them.
