Great hotel! They have happy hour every day from 5-6pm with free drinks and pizzas from the restaurant next door. Try the sangria, it will change your life!

This relatively new boutique Klimpton hotel seems like it’s still developing its identity. With what seemed to be half business travelers and half vacationers, the interior was all clean and quirky chic. As one example, there was a large hunting dog pillow perched against the lobby banquette, as various game bird silhouettes “flew” overhead in black and white framed photos. There was a huge huge jump between the standard room and the medium and largest sized suites: a super deep two-seated two person spa tub. It seems almost standard among better hotels now, but we appreciated the flat-panel TV and the iPod docking stations. The one-hour manager’s reception in the high-ceiling lobby had nice wine and snacks to kick off our night on the town. There is an attached and affiliated restaurant we didn’t try named Sable with the same vibe as the hotel and a menu based around plates to share.

It was a treat to show up at 5pm while the complimentary wine, beer, and cocktails were being served. They also had some great flatbreads. The service is the best attribute of the Palomar though. The staff is extremely accommodating, and the valet attendants remembered me when I came back down. There is top-notch pool and fresco terrace, and my only complaint was that it closes at 10pm. The rooms are designed with a modern feel you would expect from a 4-star hotel in Chicago, and the bed linens are soft and not starchy. The mattresses are so soft, and there were different firmnesses of pillows which is nice because I like to keep a soft one between my legs. The chairs are comfortable too. You really feel welcome at a hotel when the staff treats you this well.

Unfortunately, this property doesn't have that wonderful Kimpton feel about it. Though the public-space decor and atmosphere are warm & cozy, the staff certainly isn't (the valet staff is the only exception).

Something about the room decor didn't feel right.

My room was on the 8th floor. I swear, all I heard were sirens racing through the streets below.

The hotel's restaurant was a bright spot in an overall dreadful experience. Fabulous food!

This is a gorgeous hotel, which is very well situated--close to the Magnificent Mile.

I want to start off by disclosing that I had some initial complaints about the service I received at check-in that had me furious! The work done by the staff, including the General Manager to make sure that the rest of my stay was enjoyable spoke volumes about their commitment to guest satisfaction. How I am responded to when I have an issue is a big deal and truly shows me just how welcome I really am. They passed with flying colors.

The staff of the Palomar Chicago including the Bellman, Room Service Attendants and the many others that make things tic are why I love this boutique chain and the incredible collection of properties they've assembled.

The room decor was just what I am used to at Kimpton; hip, fresh and upscale with my favorite plush robes in the closet and a fabulously stocked mini-bar. (Plus I received a $10 coupon for the mini-bar for being a Kimpton In-Touch Member)

BTW, the room service prices are so reasonable as are the room rates at this hotel. For a luxury boutique; the Palomar offers a great value.
The wine-hour was hosted in the living room styled lobby and was a perfect way to start off the evening. I enjoyed a marvelous dinner at Sable (which I also enjoyed for lunch, if that says anything!)

I will be back soon to the Palomar in Chicago and this time...I am staying a couple of extra days!

This is the cutest, modern, chic boutique hotel in Chicago. I stumbled upon this while browsing around State St and found their lobby to be significantly more happening on a random Tuesday night (abide this was during a holiday weekend) than any other place. I got curious and walked into this amazingly setup lobby with a wanna-be fire place!

The whole atmosphere was noisy, but rich in the essence of the people speaking in murmurs in the lobby. The bar was average but you can mill around and hang out with the folks in the wine bar and the staff was so nice. They even made sure we were ok standing around since there were little seating area due to the crowd.

This hotel is new, so everything in it is new looking, new feeling, new-ish... it even smells of new-ness. There were a few deals on some sample sites I saw, highly recommend staying here!

I stayed here for work a couple of times shortly after it opened. The heated pool on the 17th floor was really nice! And while it was chilly out on the terrace, I can imagine how nice it will be in the summer months. The rooms are a little more cramped than other Kimpton hotels (I usually stay at the Monaco), and the front desk isn't as homey, but the decor is modern with calming blues and red accents. There was *just* enough space for me to lay a yoga mat down between the furniture.
