The Palomar is definitely the rebirth of cool. What was once a lackluster 3-star property is now a chic experience in hospitality. Kimpton breathed new life into this prime location with a total renovation, awesome amenities and the Central 214 restaurant and bar that is good enough to stand on its own.Recommended for:

With its modern, sophisticated décor, pet pampering services, luxurious spa that uses my favorite products and a much talked about farm to table restaurant, I fully expected to fall in love with the Hotel Palomar from the moment I walked in the door. Most hotels that I’ve been in have a lot of plants and trees and fresh flowers and so did the Hotel Palomar, but, this is the first hotel I’ve walked into that has a live fish bowl on the front desk to remind you that not only do they offer dog beds, dishes and treats, they will also put a fish in your room so you won’t be lonely if you’ve left pets and loved ones at home. The location is in a great place, there’s Mockingbird Station with lots of shopping and restaurants across the street and SMU, Northpark Mall and a lot of businesses nearby, but, if you don’t plan on venturing out, there are some great amenities offered at the Palomar including a well-stocked fitness center, gorgeous pool to work by or play in, organic coffees and teas in the morning, a complimentary wine hour with hors d’ oeuvres from Central 214 which also does 24 hour room service and even complimentary overnight shoe shining. I was a little disappointed with the staff, they weren’t helpful and sometimes were rude which is fine, this hotel is known for its amenities and décor, not attentive employees, but, I feel like my time there would have been far more enjoyable if I had seen more (or any) smiling faces.Recommended for:

This hotel has all of the bells and whistles. Lovely rooms and a great location. It is right across the street from Mockingbird Station and close to SMU, Katy Trail etc... They offer wine tasting nights and organic tea & coffee is available every morning.
I was a little disappointed that WiFi was an additional fee per day. With the amount of $ you spend to stay there... WiFi should be an amenity, not an extra.
