I regularly stay at the Palomar as it's close to our DC offices - it's convenient and comfortable (home away from home as I've told the staff there on a number of occasions). The hotel could use some updating in certain places and believe there are some renovations underway. Urbana is a lively place, good drinks, great bar food, and all around perfect hotel restaurant. Are there nicer places in DC? Sure, but for Dupont convenience it's one of the best in the area.

Possibly my new favorite hotel in DC. Chic, fun and full of frills, like all Kimptons. I love the groovy bar, the ideal Dupont location and the daily complimentary wine mixer in the relaxing lobby-side lounge. All rooms are suites and they are HUGE. Seriously, my room here had more square footage than the small two-bedroom cottage I call home. Enormous. And lots of complimentary food, drinks, toiletries and accessories. A home away from home, if your 2nd home is just a little cooler than you are...

Rooms here are funky and spacious and the bathrooms are huge!

They also have a nice, big fitness room with complimentary apples and headphones. The lobby is big and open and full of marble and glass. On the day I was there, there was a free hot chocolate bar with little bowls of mini-marshmallows, cinnamon and whipped cream.

Sunday brunch at the hotel’s restaurant, Urbana, is busy. But with Palomar being right at Dupont Circle, you have dozens of other bars and restaurants at your fingertips. There’s also a Metro stop, so whatever you want to see that isn’t here, you can get to. Except Georgetown. The Metro doesn’t go there, but at the Palomar, you’re close enough to walk. Even if you can’t afford the pricey jewelry and gleaming silver goblets in the windows, it’s fun to look. If you go to the harbor in the winter, they’ve put up an ice-skating rink there now, and if you go in summer, eat outside at Sequoia and watch the rich people cruise around in their yachts.

This Dupont Circle Kimpton hotel is about five years old, so the amenities are very new and modern. I stayed in a room on the 9th floor, and could even see the top of the Washington Monument from our window. The double room was HUGE - it could have fit another 2 queen beds and still have enough space for us to turn into a yoga studio. The beds were super comfortable, with chic animal print throws on top of each of our beds. We had free wi-fi, an iPod dock and DVD player as well. The bathroom was complete with luxurious bath and body products from L'occitane, and we had cozy leopard print bath robes to wear out of the shower.

If you want to stay in DC in style and be treated like royalty, check into Hotel Palomar!

Property needs updating. Definitely does not live up to Kimpton standard. Staff is indifferent to guests. Doorman hangs out in the front, no greetings and never once was the door opened for us during our 3night stay, even when we were juggling all of our bags. Just stood there playing with his phone.

The Palomar is a fun hotel with a happy hour for guests’ everyday. The rooms are spacious and almost brand new. Beds are comfy and it comes standard with a desk and things like that. The rooms are very modern, but not so much that you have to spend an hour trying to figure out how to turn on the shower. I would certainly stay here again.
