Pensione Seguso once belonged to a family, and it is still family-oriented today. Tucked slightly away from the Zattere bank, flanked by an alley and a small canal, this cute pensione is the perfect place for families. Adjoining rooms are available. Zattere is the perfect bank to eat a gelato in the sun on, because if the sun is out it is always sunny there!
A statuesque man dressed as a bellhop named Amadou who looks like he came straight out of a Wes Anderson movie helps you with your luggage (there is an elevator in this four story locanda). The views from the rooms are unbeatable if you stay on the third floor and above. You can see Giudecca Island, and surrounding rooftops. No Internet here but plenty of locations nearby with wifi. You can really get away here. Also this neighborhood is slightly less touristy and more relaxed than others. It's a 3 min walk to the Accademia Bridge and major galleries. About a minute walk from the Zattere vaporetto.Recommended for:

If it were up to me, I’d have all of my family reunions, bachelorette party getaways, and business meetings at this charming little pensione. It’s right on the waterfront alongside a little canal, and when you’re out front, you can hear water lapping and splashing under the beautiful bridge a few steps away. One of the reasons this hotel would be great for groups is that the rooms are huge, some with full bathrooms and some just with sinks, all with high ceilings, lots of light, and nice – if simple – furnishings. The common areas, though, are beautiful and cozy. The lounge near the front door has oriental carpet and leather seating, and when I visited, there were four different people actually using it to read or write or work on their computers. The breakfast room also is elegantly charming, with cream-colored fabric on the walls and a little hand-made glass swizzle stick for every setting. Everything about this hotel feels like being a guest in someone’s really nice home. If it’s not clear already, I LOVE it.Recommended for:

This sweet spot is along the Canale della Giudecca with a beautiful little bridge right in front of it and a nice, peaceful outdoor seating area, right where a little tiny canal meets up with a major one. It’s in a quiet part of town, away from the perpetual motion of the city (and the teeming San Marcos square nearby). It’s reasonably priced and has a friendly, fun atmosphere. They’re also used to having artists there (a painter and a writer were also there when I visited), so I felt right at home. I feel like I could stay here with my band if we ever played in Venice. Though the hotel is a bit out of the way, it’d be easy to get here by boat. This might be the cheapest nice place (or nicest cheap place?) in all of Venice. I’m all fer it.
