    Julius Ceasar Pub

    0.11 mi from Hotel Romae
    1 review

This is actually a pretty chill, laid back bar. I'm only speaking of the bar area, not the B&B. They make really good kamikazee's, or any mixed drink rather. That's more their specialty than beer. It's darkly lit, and not too loud, but not quiet enough that you hear aeveryone else. There's no dancing, but there is light music playing. ...

Hip plaza near the Spanish steps. Always something going on. You can buy cheap souvenirs or hire an expensive horse and carriage, so there is more than a faint whiff of the commercial. But that shouldn't be enough to spoil it.

    Borghese Gallery

    0.91 mi from Hotel Romae
    37 reviews

There is a lot to see in the Borghese Gallery but the main reason to reserve tickets to visit is to see the unbelievable Bernini sculptures, particularly, Apollo and Daphne, and Poseidon and Persephone. The exquisite skill demonstrated in those works is amazing. The thin leaves growing from Daphne's fingers and the pliant flesh on Persphone's thigh makes it almost ...

Visit Santa Maria Maggiore (St. Mary Major) if only to see Bernini's magnificant staircase! There are 80 churches in Rome dedicated to Mary. This is the largest and considered the most important, thus, the label "maggiore". Along with St. Peter's, St. John's and St. Paul's, this is one of four papal basilicas in Rome. Dating back to the 5th century, ...

    0.51 mi from Hotel Romae

Rome is filled with precious pieces of art history that a traveler in a hurry could overlook, and this church is one. Secreted inside is Bernini's masterwork Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, a prime example of sensual Baroque sculpture.

    Villa d'Este

The fountains and grounds are undeniably the show stealer. The house is quite the mansion, but it's the gardens you want to be in. It's so calm and beautiful...romantic even - you might find yourself in a "moment." It'd be a fabulous venue for private events, but I've been told they don't do that sort of thing.

Great place to watch the sunset in Rome. The drawback is that it can get a bit crowded with all the tourists and people hawking their wares. There is an elevator from the Spagna metro stop to the top for those that might have issues climbing all the stairs. It is worth climbing up for some decent panoramas of the ...

It's a great place to spot tourists, that Piazza Barberini. Located in an island in the middle of the street, it's located right above the Barberini Metro stop. The Fontana del Tritone e Fontana delle Api sits in its center, visible from all around. While it may be overshadowed as an attraction by the nearby Fontana di Trevi, it's still ...

Presidential palace, formerly the temporal home of the papacy when the pope still ruled the papal states. Definitely the case that the presidential court in Italian has all the trappings of monarchy. Grand and yet somehow understated.

    0.44 mi from Hotel Romae

Piazza della Repubblica is one of Rome's grand sights if you're traveling by car, much like how PIazza Venezia wows newcomers to the Eternal City. It's not surrounded by tourists and there's a beautiful fountain in the center. The architecture around the Fontana delle Naiadi is equally beautiful, especially at night when the place is dramatically illuminated.

I feel kind of weird saying this place is beautiful, but in a way it truly is - the bones are displayed in such unique, intricate patterns that it almost feels like art. Then you realize exactly what you're looking at and it becomes a little creepy. I thought the Crypt of the Leg Bones and Thigh Bones (real name) ...

These four fountains on the corners of an intersection in the Quirinale is one of the many small pleasures to be discovered while walking in Rome. Not really worth the trip on their own, but if you go to the intersection, you will be next to Boromini's church San Carlino, which is well worth the trip.

Area can have gypsies and pick pockets. Use a money belt and don't loiter outside- get on your way to next place.
