Do you mean “Hotel San Historic?” I swear a ghost floated past me as I walked down the lavish corridor…but that’s what happens when the Old World meets the new. This ornate downtown landmark oozes history and whispers stories of the past. From its velvet draperies to gaudy (but cool) mirrors, traditions of the 20s, 30s and 40s fill the air, kitty cat. I was part of a film project that was shot in downtown Phoenix and The Hotel San Carlos was courteous enough to allow us to use their rooms to do hair, make-up and costuming. I guess they respect the movie-making process considering Marilyn, Cary Grant and Humphrey Bogart would frequent the place back in the day! If that isn’t alluring enough, the hotel sits in the heart of downtown Phoenix, which is making a name for itself with all of the action happening there now. Sports venues, restaurants, entertainment and museums are all within strolling distance.

When staying downtown if you want to deviate from the ultra upgraded high tech Hyatt or Renaissance and kick it old school with 50's class and style, Hotel San Carlos is where its at! Walking I was greeted as sir and immediately felt like I was Don Draper. I don't want to make this hotel sound like its not in good shape. Its awesome! The historical building has been well preserved and I was surround by class in all parts of the hotel. If you have read my other reviews of downtown then you know what I did next. Went to the rooftop pool and sun deck to catch a few rays and skyscrapers. The staff rocks as does the old school class. Thanks for keeping it real Hotel San Carlos!
